Hi, Has anyone heard of SJSU Decision yet? Not sure how some kids in my son’s son already got in. My son didn’t get his result.

Usually decisions come out in February. Unusual that they are out this early unless they are part of a special HS program or recruited athletes.

February 8 last year was when decisions started posting.

Might be something new. SDSU has also released decisions for a group of students.

SDSU has always did some early admits in December/January as far back as 15 years ago.

Are those special cases or randomly if you know

SDSU admits are High stat, Special SD HS program students and some OOS students. Majority of decisions are in March.

For SJSU, I have not heard of them admitting early. Historically the decisions start in February.

Usually the impacted campuses will start posting in February through March.

Non-impacted campuses will admit on a rolling basis as early as November.

As always, decision timelines can change.

My son got in for CS. Probably because his academic record is very strong.

Any one know how the Math GPA they use for engineering is calculated. Is this only 10th and 11th grade Math that is used? Also do they use weighted GPA for Math? That is AP CALBC A is treated at GPA of 5? Also I see some courses like AP CS A are considered Math do they treat this as math?

No one has ever confirmed the Math GPA calculation but it is assumed to be 10-11th (weighted? ). Try the calculation both ways using Unweighted and Weighted

Yes, some schools have AP Computer Science A listed under Math. Check the A-G course list for your HS to determine if it is listed.

Thanks @Gumbymom . Our school does list Computer science A under Math section.

My DD is waiting on Pre-Nursing at SJSU for Fall 2024.

She has an index of 3128 (3.91 Cal State GPA) so she is right on the borderline depending on whether the index moves up or down for 2024. Hoping it drops just a little like it did last year.

In 2021 it was 3000, in 2022 it was 3240, and in 2023 it was 3160.

She’s already in at Chico, SF State, Sac State and CSEB, but she likes San Jose and also Sonoma (which we’re also waiting on where her index is 4028 vs last year’s threshhold of 4074…uggh).

My kid was just accepted to SJSU today!
Anthropology major, 3.4 gpa, and 3 APs/1 Honors.
In-state (Bay Area, but not in San Jose).

SJSU posted their impaction numbers for 2024 today. Pre-nursing stayed the same as last year at 3160 so guessing my daughter will be getting either a denial or an acceptance to her alternate undeclared major. Her index is just slightly below the 3160 number. If we were local, first gen or lower income, she’d be above the index. Bummer!

Anyone ever heard of an acceptance where the student was slightly below the index cutoff?

Wow, they didn’t even send an email notification. I saw the messages here and asked DS24 to log on to mySJSU and saw the Admitted message sitting in the inbox!

We are OOS so GPA doesn’t make sense.
