Santa Clara University Early Action / Early Decision for Fall 2024 Admission

Fingers crossed something is coming and it’s not a “no aid” situation

Nope , we got a small merit aid although Net
Price Calculator estimated around 16k . Total price being 80-85k we were hoping to get that amount as it would really help .

My DS does have other good school options with merit but he loves SCU . So undecided right now .

Looks like about 65-70 students will be given spots in the Honors Program, and all EAs recently notified of acceptance were invited to apply.

I’m assuming those admitted and also awarded a Dean’s Scholarship would have better odds at the Honors Program, given that scholarship is merit-based. Can anyone corroborate? Instead of Dean’s, does being the recipient of what seems to be a high dollar figure Bronco Scholarship similarly improve odds of entry into the Honors Program?

Thanks DS24Sunshine. At least now I know we are not alnoe.

Yes. But we did not fill the CSS or other info. So not sure how they would know the EFC.

Interesting. I don’t think common app requires SSN info. How do they know your EFC?

I used CSS, so no surprise for me.

there are arrows in the top right corner

I am assuming they don’t know our EFC. Since we got a scholarship may be they did not take EFC into account.

It is probably merit based ? Does it say need grant or X type of scholarship ?

That is awesome !!

Yes, the term on the letter says “These scholarships are renewable for up to four years (twelve consecutive quarters) for first-year students”. However, isn’t a year with 4 quarters? Unless summer quarter is not counted… A bit confused. The web page Merit Scholarships - Financial Aid - Santa Clara University only says 12 consecutive quarters, that makes me a bit nervous.

Hi. If you don’t mind me asking but what were the stats?

My DS got bronco scholarship as well but just expected more merit than what is given . We really are not eligible for need based .

Yeah we will also not qualify for any need based aid. I heard SCU gives merit aid but I am not familiar with the usual amounts. Do you know what is considered a good or avg merit aid?

I shared above but here you go:

GPA: 3.8xUW and 4.3x Weighted
SAT 1540

I believe you got one of the best bronco scholarship amounts . I haven’t heard more than 30k for bronco .

Presidential and provost are more amount but that’s a hard one to get unless applicant is exceptional in all areas .

They gave us $5,400 merit aid and $5500 loan which is just not enough . We would have been atleast closer if it was all merit . Net price calculator estimated 16k merit and we were hoping for that :frowning:

Ah ok Thanks for sharing the info. Can you appeal to see if you can get more merit Aid? I have heard that if you get merit from some other college you can sometimes negotiate . I hope that they can increase your aid. Good luck.

Yes I did send an email to financial aid and posted a screenshot of Net price calculator estimate . Hopefully can hear back soon !
