We got it too so am also curious
Same here
I believe every accepted applicant received an invitation. And, the acceptance rate I see for the program is 5%. That said â if/when merit aid comes out, that might help you decide, as kids that receive merit aid are probably on the higher end of the class.
Anyone feel fee to correct this â Iâm just going with a lot of googling
Wondered the same thing. I read somewhere that those who recieved a one of 2 scholarships gets this invite. So now I am expecting 1/2 to full scholarship! Also, you an I have kids waiting on UVM today, right?
See my response. This is what I found in googling.
Right! Though my D prefers Mich or Wisc as of today. (Ask her again tomorrow )
February visits may be helpful, SCU weather is tough to beat, and Midwest winters are tough
My D got her admissions invite on Friday. We continue to be really excited about it. Today she got an invite to apply for the Honors College. She is planning to apply but looks like it is competitive. She is taking a few days of a break from college app stuff today to help out her grandma, but then will take a look at the essay. Looks like she also needs to make a video.
yeah. My daughter got deferred from her top choice (that was her top choice since she was in 9th grade) so everything else has been elbowing each other out of their spots and just doesnât shine bright enough. Money is going to help a lot here. She got into GMU which was her saftey with significant merit and the honors program and when you plan to get your PhD, getting your BS for practically free is really helpful. Everyone keeps telling me âyour BS college doesnât matter if you are getting an MSâ which I should know, itâs just hard to wrap your brain around.
Trying to get my husband to agree to this - coming from the east coast though
And kids all seem to love GMU!
Ha! Agree not to bombard them. My d has a somewhat unique name, so we are especially aware of this as her emails likely stand out.
This is 100% true. And you will have a better chance of getting into a top grad program if you get excellent grades in your undergrad programâŠSo the best strategy is to go somewhere where you are likely to excel academically and which wonât put you in debt. The name doesnât matter. Really.
Quite possible these were the only students that matriculated? (Not sure how many were offered) S23 was deferred for early, then waitlisted at RD. We did attend the online meeting (late spring) where admissions officers explained their waitlist process. They said that you could receive a notification and needed to respond within 24 hours. In June (perhaps late May?) when son already had made his college choice, he did receive a phone call to his mobile phone where the admissions office person asked him if he was still interested. He immediately responded that he wasnât, so the admissions officer signed off.
That is really good to know. So being from Oregon, you have still heard of GMU? I have been wondering how nationally recognized it is.
My D looked at tons of east coast schools!
Iâm scratching my head on the demonstrated interest component. My daughter was deferred. Attended on campus tour, engaged via email admissions officer, attended a regional Sunday sessionâŠdeferred
Merit letter is in portal.
Did you click the arrow to advance to the next page of the PDF? (I had the same initial confusionâŠ)
Lol yeah the iPad didnât show the arrows. I figured it out. She got a bronco scholarship, not sure how that ranks on their scale but we are pleased
