Santa Clara University Early Action / Early Decision for Fall 2025 Admission

This is the official thread for those applying EA/ED to Santa Clara University.

List your unweighted GPA, any SAT /ACT scores, and ECs. What majors are you going into?
Ask your questions, the CC community is here to help!

Can anyone give insight into whether or not the school you apply to will affect your admissions decision? If you are applying to the Business school is that more competitive and therefore you are less likely to be admitted than say Arts and Science? Thank you.

Welcome to CC!

My impression is that all 3 schools at SCU are competitive, and they prefer that you apply to the school you intend to study in. I have heard it is difficult to transfer into the Engineering program, and likewise not easy to move into Leavey. I would encourage you (your student?) to apply to the school that hold the major you/they want to study. It is a tough admit no matter what major. Good luck!

Based on the GPA mentioned in the link below, there is marginal difference between the schools. Engineering is slightly harder than business, which in turn is slightly harder than arts and science. Avoiding the top 5 majors mentioned in the link might increase the chances, this is speculation of my part and not a fact.

Any idea if ed comes out before ea?

Safe to assume that ED1 and EA come out around the same time based on their stated timeline.

What’s best guess of when decisions are released? Tk u.

In '23 (my last kid’s cycle) it was on 12/16 - looked back last year but I don’t see anyone posting acceptances for 24.

I’m thinking dec 13.

Does anyone have any idea when ED decisions will be released?

Dec 12-13

Last year, we received EA notification for D24 on 12/15.

Email sent to applicants today to confirm you can access the portal and “you’ll hear from us soon.” No date specified, however. Hopefully it’s this week!

“We are working hard to finish evaluating more than 12,000 applications, but you should be hearing from us soon.”
Seems 10% more applications than last year. Not sure if it is the general trend everywhere.

What’s your source of number of ED/EA applications received by them last year?

Thank you. That’s very interesting.

  1. They receiving majority of their applications in EA/ED1 rounds - 11K odd out of 16k
  2. The acceptance rate is similar between early and RD rounds, even though average GPA of early rounds is significantly higher than overall average in CDS.

Decisions were just posted
