SAT 8/25

seen the questions even done prior to testis not cheating unless you are told this will be tested on test date.

Buying a test that you know has not been released is cheating.

Yes, I asked about the August SAT and a counselor told me to retake it.

@nerdmd Can you explain exactly what was said between you and the Harvard admissions officer? What did you ask about the August SAT, as specifically as you can remember?

So scores tomorrow, but any idea when tomorrow?

I’m not saying I’m psychic, but… when May subject test scores came out, I was sitting on my couch, and I got this weird cold feeling in the back of my soul and thought “hey, scores came out!” Checked my email and sure enough, scores had been released just a few minutes before.

The plaintiff is an attorney looking for 33% of the settlement

@Cheeringsection College Board twitter account tweeted this about 10 hours ago:

“August SAT scores will be online beginning tomorrow, but don’t stay up all night waiting for them. They’ll be released throughout the day: spr.ly/6019DL6Q5”

But I feel like I read somewhere it could be as early as 2 a.m. or 5 a.m.? Maybe the 5 a.m. was EST hence the 2 a.m.

In my personal opinion no real exams should be released as practice exams and then the playing field would be equal. No adminiaterd exam should ever be reused. Students ahould be required to take the exam within their own country. There is no reason in the world a student should be flying around the world to a test location. Another idea is to give a different exam for every time zone.

There are over 80,000 international students in high school in the US.

The real solution is simple: Never recycle a test; only administer unique exams.

Ok true. However if you are a student in a hs in china you should not be flying to the US to take an exam. That should be a red flag.

I asked If I have a high score would it be looked at with suspicion considering that I took it in August. And she said “My recommendation is to retake it”

one unofficial website said 4:00am ET but could be later. Mean that website is useless.
i can say now (00:41 ) but could be later. bogus

@nerdmd this is ridiculous.i call b.s.

Why? There was no August test in Asia. And what about students who are changing schools or are in the US for other reasons? Tarring an entire region’s students with such a broad brush is no solution at all–it’s just discrimination.

Cheaters should be punished if caught, but the CB has shown over the years that it can’t reliably catch them. It also can’t reliably prevent them. The only solution is to stop recycling tests.

Sadly there are reasons to look askance at whole countries. Is really unfortunate when the baby gets thrown out with the bath water https://www.scmp.com/comment/insight-opinion/article/1974986/why-do-chinese-students-think-its-ok-cheat

Agreed that CB should stop recycling tests. But cheaters should stop cheating and families should stop teaching their kids that its ok , if not necessary, to get ahead. Its not ok.

Seems like the scores for this exam are not going to be released today as originally indicated. Supposedly sometime over the next week.
