Every day SAT SAT SAT!!! Its ruining my life, this one test is the deciding factor, I hate it so much, and I dont understand why I keep making mistakes! My grades are great i got a 4.5 gpa, and i do lots of ecs, but this SAT is killing me!

Try taking the ACT.

Oh yes, that damn SAT, what to do about it, three letters that have lasting effects on your life, but seriously the best thing to do is just do the best you can do, if still you don’t score well then just compensate with your achievements/successes. After all, numbers aren’t everything, so good luck with everything :D

mannnn same situation. somehow i get a 750 writing but a 620 reading. somehow first time i get a 500 reading, 620 second time.

last summer i studied every day for an hour for a month.

this summer i started studying two days ago.

IT’S DRIVING ME INSANE.

all this work through high school and this test ruins it all!

and my parents rub it in my face like no other. “what are you doing?” “taking a shower.” “why aren’t you stuying SAT?”

I CALL FOR A REVOLUTION. pull out your picket signs people, we’re going to the college board.

Good job the W portion of the exam.
Keep on studying for the CR and M sections to prove to your parents that you can perform well on the SAT!

Yeah try ACT :D

the bright side: if you prepare right, it pays off. take this from someone who has done more than 30 practice SATs (seriously) and probably at least 50 in total. you hate it now but when you’re done you are done. are you really going to complain later if you get the score you want? didn’t think so.

no your right, i wont complain, but I cant find a way to study that works for me
i practice a lot, i mean a lot, and i cant get my math to break 700, and not to brag, but im really good math student, i love math, i just cant break 700, and its killing me, i can solve some ridicolous calc problem in school that no one else can do, but the on sat math, i just die

i like to think of the sat on this way…“float like a butterfly, sting like a bee”…bump and grind just bump and grind…

float like a butterfly - stay on ya feet…dong drag and spend too much time on one question…keep light and continue the test.

sting like a bee - when you see a question, attack it like a big bumble bee.

bump and grind - attack on one question and flee onto the other, just like that.

try it :)

well penguinman, i had that problem too. not at the same extent, but i don’t think i ever hit an 800.
what i did was i went through my last few practice tests and wrote down every one of my errors.
once i was aware of the errors, i started seeing that some errors were made many times. by realizing this, i was more likely to avoid them.

maybe you keep getting a certain type of problem wrong or you just keep messing up the numbers. if you can pinpoint it, when you’re done with the test, you know which problems to go back and check

how can the sat be so hard and stressful for you?? english isn’t my native language, but still my score is 2310. and all i had to do was to memorize some words

by saying “you” i didn’t mean only penguinman. i meant, like everybody whose native lang. is english

some people know english “good” and some know it “well” – that’s the only way i can explain it

I think doing well on the SAT’s is the kind of thing that either you know or not, plus take into consideration quality of education as it varies from city to city, state to state, etc. Plus, if everyone was equally proficient at the SAT’s we would all have the same scores thus eliminating the purpose of the SAT’s. So hmmm, yes it’s unfortunate that everyone can’t score as well as you, but the SAT’s aren’t everything anyway because how can you culminate your intelligence in a… what 4/5 hr. test, just doesn’t seem reasonable to base everything on this, but oh well.

Are you really that obsessive about school? You have a 4.5 and you think your SAT scores are going to hold you back. Even getting an 1800 is going to get you into most good schools. Just relax

That’s actually not true. SAT’s matter a lot. About same as grades.

ok heres what we do: convince every high school student around the world not to take the SAT tests. then we all apply as normal. bam, no more SAT worries.

this would require a lot of propaganda of course.

and picket signs.

joking by the way

I think we can all agree that SAT’s matter plenty, but I think we need to remind others that numbers aren’t everything and they want a well-rounded applicant, with that said a 600 [I know that’s extreme, but you know what I mean] is not going to help you get into top schools. So just do the best you can and wait patiently for the results of your effort.

Yeah, I got a 1640, but I’m retaking it in October, and I believe I can raise my score atleast 300 points by october. I just started reviewing atleast 30 minutes a night. I do it late at night when theres nothing better to do, and it passes the time fast. Just relax, and believe in yourself.
