SAT January 2012 - Writing

Was there a ID error question like Among Mrs. Wolloch’s lifelong interests were music? and then were was the error?

@Almost: That might have been from the other experimental, as I had two and do not recall that question.

Probably cause I did have two writing sections.

I REALLY hope -1MC and 10ish essay is still an 800.

My essay was average, but I filled the space (not an inch of space left) and used some “big” words.

Speed of sound I put “no error”, because it didn’t seem redundant. From what I remember, anything different and the comparison would’ve simply been incorrect.
It was definitely a tricky question though, so I wouldn’t be shocked if I am wrong. But I felt like I was pretty in-the-zone with the grammar this test. =P

@almost If you reverse the sentence it should be “Music [was] among Mrs. Wolloch’s lifelong interests, especially…” The error, therefore is the verb part. This section was probably the experimental one. I had two 25-minute back to back writing sections.

Because sound travels faster in a liquid than in a solid, the speed of sound in water is greater than that of sound in air.

OR

Because sound travels faster in a liquid than a solid ???

I dont remember that one, but i remember a q that said every one of the men was suspected of being a spy. Was it was or were?

^^was, each is singular.

Each man in the room was accused of being a spy.

does anyone remember section 10, number 13 & 14? I only remember putting both A’s for them  and how about the significant amounts? I put that that is wrong because you can’t measure amounts,?

^^^ that’s the walnut trees with aspirin one and I think that was NE

speed of sound! we have nearly the exact question, now we just have to find a past sat question that mirrors it!

I’m hoping for a lenient curve, I found this writing section to be rather hard.

Just recalled a question: It had something to do with “deep sea” extremes of pressure xxx and cold"
“extremes of cold” is OK, right?

yeah I put A for that basically no error.

Guys wh took the SAT several times or a lot of mock tests can you guys tell me the difficulty of the CR and writting out of scale 1~5.
I think CR was hard 4~5 and Writting was 1~2.
How do you think the curve for CR and Writting will be like.

Halfway between average and harsh, most likely. It was pretty easy compared to most practice tests… All the answer choices but 2 were in passive voice, and one of those 2 was just structurally wrong, so the answer was obvious.

However, I only got 2.5 paragraphs of my essay done, so even though it was well-written, I think this will kill me. I also started running out of time on one section, so I think I was more eager to check No Error than I should’ve been…

Thank God I had 4 math sections cuz I finish math like in 5~10 mins so I went back to the reading frequently but Im not even confident breaking 600 lmao.

Can anyone make a thread? Ive made one for CR. Where did all those good thread makers disappear. After the PSAT I remember threads on all three subjects coming up rly fast.

So, have we agreed on 4 No Errors? or…
