SAT May 2012 Official Discussion

Anyone wanna try to make a page where they just write any answers to the ones try remember and people can just add to it so everyone can get a ballpark of their score?

It said median (I remember that) but for some reason I put II and III. Im pretty sure I got it wrong.

@bear

I got that also

@bear111 yeah thats no error

what do you guys think -1 will be?? on math

Omg… dude I considered that detail, that’s how I know III’s mean has to be 17.2

III 14 kids have age 17

1 kid has age 20 as greatest age

mean=17.2

And as mentioned, Collegeboard would not ask something like that which requires rounding (especially age, how do you round age? If you’re 17.5 are you 18? are you 17 if you’re 17.2?) I am sure that they asked the median. I also remember it being median.

Wait… if you put a decimal answer preceded by a zero (i.e. “0.5” when 1/2 or .5 is the answer) would it be automatically counted as incorrect?

I’m hoping lots of people got tripped up by at least 1 problem on math cause there were lots of tricky ones and hopefully math -1 will be an 800

@chachaseeds
thats still ok, its only if putting a 0 will make it less rounded

going off of that, is 1.67 acceptable for 5/3?

@lpbugrdmpted my bad man, not trying to say youre wrong or anything… maybe youre right im not really sure if it was median or average at this point but i thought it was average. im sorry for your inconvenience…

the answer is 63: 4096^1

-1 on math might be an 800, but will most likely be 770-780.

I think the experimental math section had the problem where it asked where (p+5)(p-4)/(p^2-16) is defined and it had three options

I think I remember it being median, for those out there talking about the age 17 one.

@ Lauren

Answer is 4095 because 4096= x and 1=y

that was an amusing last math question. i almost missed it haha

what?? i never got that math experimental… and i never got that flouride in water or whatever either… i didnt have a writing experimental… what other problems were in that math experimental?

Definitely median. First of all, the people who are saying median would otherwise never say so due to the fact that mean is much more commonplace. If people are seeing “median”, it was DEFINITELY “median”.

@cong its okay, i just can’t imagine me remembering it wrong, and even if i did the answer would be highly debatable.

can you put 1.67 for 5/3?

oh and did anyone get 20 tickets left or something? for the free response
