Sat scores/what colleges to apply to HELP!!!

hey im an international student from Australia, i got a score of 1700 on my sats, and was wondering if i should sit subjects tests to improve my chances, and if i were to do so, would it be ok to send each score at a different time or do they all have to be sent together? when and how late should i send my scores? And what colleges would i get into with 1700 on the test? is diversity a factor that would help considering australian students are not that prominent? Thanks in advance!

btw im yet to figure out my gpa but to me it looks like it may be 3.5 weighted

We can’t tell you where to apply if you haven’t give us more information:
Do you want famous schools: Then no you are out
Do you want scholarship: No you are out. Too low SAT score(what’s your math+CR?)
Diversity? Not really. Australia is not underrepresented.
Weather?
Region?
Urban or rural?
What major?
Any APs?(for credit purpose)

With your current stats, subject tests are unnecessary for colleges you have fair chances to get in.
Use SuperMatch tool to figure it out.

Do you have money? With your scores, there is absolutely no way that you will get any need/merit aid.

yeah i have money, what about university of michigan, university of florida??

You need to do researches about every single school and have a realistic plan . First your score and gpa for BOTH are far below average so you have little to no chance.Beside, umich isvery selectve on out of state kids. It seems like you didnt spend enough time to learn about schools tou are applying to.
What is your interest? your prefered region?

university of illinois urbana champaign?

Op , you seriously need to look up schools rather tham randomly askinf about schools, which all happen to be state university.

Please use the “find a college” search engine on CC top of web page to find the colleges within your stats. Please remember that as an international student, colleges have higher admit standards and the engine is for US applicants.

Your listed three schools are not in your score range, please be realistic.

The universities where a student with a 1700 SAT has good odds to get in don’t require subject tests. You may take subject tests if you feel that the SAT score doesn’t accurately reflect your abilities, and/or try taking the ACT.

With a 1700 and being full pay, you could get into colleges as different as
University of Alabama, U of Arizona, UCi, UCSC, St Mary’s of California, Whittier, UDenver, Quinipiac, Flagler, UTampa, University of North Florida, Loyola Chicago, Lake Forest, Butler, Cornell College, Luther College, Centre College, Washington College, Stonehill, Lesley, UMass Lowell, Michigan Tech, Alma, UMN-Morris, Hamline, Caroll College Montana, Creighton, Rowan, Seton Hall, Drew, Siena, RIT, Wagner, Molloy, Appalachian State, Guilford, UDayton, Hiram, Capital (OH), Linfield, Southern Oregon University, Arcadia, Susquehanna, Duquesne, Bryant, St Edward’s, Texas State, St Michael’s, UMW, Seattle University, Pacific Lutheran.
Now you have 50 universities to investigate. Come back and list the ones you like, the ones you don’t like, and why, so that we can help you refine your choices.

Thanks for the replies, i dont want to go to a college that would look bad on my resume, i honestly couldnt care less about the regions. btw my gpa is probs higher than 3.5, that just a min. estimate. isnt abit strange that colleges would not want international students, because they would have to pay extra tuiton fees. i mean i get that they have a quota on international students but a school like u mich wouldnt have too many, right?

imma try that college search

Thinking you have chance because there aren’t many int student in XXX school is totally absurd and pointless.

There are over 9047 internationals students among 43k in UMich, and that’s roughly more than 20% of total enrollment. Do some researches, for the god’s sake. Besides, it seems like you are thinking Umich is easy to get into, but no, it’s not for international, especially with that kind of stat.

quick question. do california universities only offer fall admission dates? is there anyway i can get into a california university without having to wait until fall 2016 to attend? i have relatives there that helps but i dont wanna wait 2 years b4 attending even though im only 17

I know what you’re thinking OP, if you were going to pay more tuition to go to US colleges, you need to go to a school which is much better than those in Australia right? This might not be a good method and beneficial to your whole education, but the quick way is to find out the ranking in Times World University Ranking of your Australia’s top school, then start from the US schools, one closest to Australian unis, then go upwards. But honestly I can say you’ll have to consider retaking SAT or try out ACT, to get at least a 2000. That way you won’t be wasting your time and money to go to US for studies.

please answer my previous question because i would really prefer to go to a cali uni, the sat is so exhausting, but i guess i could sit it again, however i really dont see myself getting more than 1900

Based on your scores a lot of CSUs will take you as a full pay except Cal Polys.

No i mean in regards to when i can apply and when i can attend since november deadline has passed???

@RS6009‌ Sorry I don’t know much about California system so I can’t answer you much. All I can say is if you want everything to worth the time and money, you’ll have to boost your standardized test scores no matter it be ACT or SAT in the end. There’s no other way. Believe me, my finishing all past papers since 2005 (there’s like 50 of them) and all famous prep books out there and still barely managing a 2100, is even more exhausting. Don’t cry out loud until you’ve tried the hell :pensive:

The UC’s only accept First time Freshman in the Fall so 2016 would be your next chance. Cal state Bakersfield will accept Winter and Spring freshman applicants for 2015. Channel Islands/Dominguez Hills and San Francisco State accept Spring 2015 Freshman. Some majors may not be available for Winter and Spring admissions. I would check the CSU Mentor website
