Yes it’s totally stupid. I guess it started when many HS didn’t offer AP classes but now they should just give the option of SAT subject tests if you don’t have AP or IB scores for whatever areas they want.
The idea of SAT subject tests (formerly Achievement tests) is to test ordinary high school level course knowledge, not the knowledge from AP courses that cover college frosh level material.
