SAT Subject Tests

Which subject tests are most suited for Indian college applicants?

Math 2, Physics, Chem, I would say. Bio maybe. Literature if you like to read. Honestly, there’s nothing ‘most suited’ for Indian applicants, you can try any. But Indian students generally take Math 2, Physics and Chem as they find it easy.

and end up with near/perfect scores  Hence I urge you to take one more of these preferably US History too. It’ll make you stand out…and unlike myself…you will have completed a prerequisite course for college…That will really help you :)

As far as I know the prerequisites requirement can be fulfilled or you get eligible for higher level of a particular course if you can get a 750+ SAT score in Math, English and any one of the Science Subject SATs.

For example, in my Ds case, a Math course, Calculus 1 is required to register for many of the Business courses but to get there you need to clear earlier 2 levels of Math. Since her Math SAT Subject score was 780, she got placed directly into Calculus 1 in the freshman year, saving her 4-8 credits which she could use some place else. Then there is WTE, Writing The Essay class which all freshman have to take, her English SAT score of 750 allowed her to skip WTE and saved another 4 credits. Unfortunately she missed skipping the Natural Science requirement because her Bio score was 730. Ouch… Could have saved another 4 credits.

Unfortunately inspite of all the research, we still could not figure out the credit system, otherwise she would have given SAT one more time to save 4 credits as each credit costs about 1600 dollars and SAT costs much less. If only we asked intelligent questions like you guys…

If you can give Literature, World History or one of the Languages- it’ll really help you stand out, trust me. Almost all Indian kids give PCMB tests, but colleges know that none of the subjects I mentioned are taught in CBSE or ICSE, and thus, respect the score a whole lot.
