If I am not mistaken, I remember reading in this forum that Hotchkiss does not have Saturday classes every week. It averages like almost every other week? Is that correct?
What is the case for Taft, Lville, Exeter, Middlesex, and Blair? Do they have classes every Saturday? DC does not prefer Saturday classes though one of his favorite schools, Hotchkiss, has Saturday classes. Do students get used to Saturday Classes or like Steve Carrell says they are glad that no more Saturday classes when they graduate?
They get used to it. Plus, at Hotchkiss at least, there are plenty of weekends when there are no Saturday classes so kids can relax, go home, travel to NYC or Boston, etc.
@HMom16 Can you explain that further please? Is it like one week Sat class other week no Sat class or is it because of school closures/holidays?
I’m not sure how they decide, exactly. Its not every other week. Its more like 1 Saturday off every 3 weeks or so but, depending on the term, the schedule varies. For example, Parents Weekend, there are Saturday classes but then they have Monday (and maybe Tuesday) off. You can google “hotchkiss academic calendar 2019” to download a .pdf of a typical calendar.
My daughter really hated the idea of Saturday classes, but she got used to them quickly. At Lville, in a normal / non covid year, they seem to have no Saturday classes about once a month.
Lawrenceville has saturday classes. Pretty much every saturday during the term. There are a few exceptions (Family weekend, Winter Gathering, Hill weekend, etc).
