My son just had his heart broken for the first time. He came home from work and told me and then just fell into me crying. We stood there hugging for a long time. Being a parent never gets easier does it?

If people don’t stop being jerks when they drive I just might go insane.

Chilling in the backyard when I heard a cat come over the wooden fence, not unusual as we have several neighborhood cats that come by, I call them Big Red, Big Black and Striped Tiger. I didn’t look up, until I saw white out of the corner of my eye, so looked up to see a large skunk calmly walking through the patio, about 10 feet from me, tail way up in the air! I didn’t make a move for fear I’d spook it! That’s was a new one for us! 25 years in this house and never saw one, and certainly not during the day! Holy crepes!

If your kid has no interest in going there, it isn’t a safety school. Take the time to find some place they’d be happy to attend. That’s more important than a list of unlikely schools.

Not at all like me: Excrutiating pain in my lower back whenever I move even the tiniest bit. Had to cancel my lunch date in NYC. I can’t even get out of my chair. Had to have DH hand me my reading glasses from two feet away.

Stupid body. Don’t fail me now.

This underwire bra hurts like hell. Seemed like a good idea this morning.

I really, really wish that I had learned proper posture years ago. It’s incredibly difficult to teach my old body new tricks, but I’m working hard to do it. My back is not happy, but it will be happier in the long run.

I’m really annoyed you decided not to come to the family reunion. I understand that some family members can’t because of certain circumstances, but deciding you would rather spend your time going on a different trip? I’m really rethinking all of the time, energy and money my husband and I and our kids have expended to show up over the years. I guess we have different priorities and we clearly are not yours.

The strawberries were great, but over too quickly. The raspberries, more than ever before, just when I thought we’d picked the all, there’s another pint the next day.

Now the blueberries are ripening. And it looks like we’ll have a lot of grapes this year.

All of this thanks to my wonderful wife.:heart::heart:

I’m very sad. My son’s psychiatrist, who has been his doctor for almost 13 years, is moving to Massachusetts. I think my son can still see him with a video link, but it won’t be the same. It’s only a two-hour drive, so I think we can drive down at least a couple of times a year.

It’s a great loss for Maine. The doctor was very involved with getting legislation passed. He’s really a child/adolescent psychiatrist who agreed to keep seeing my son as an adult. There is a critical shortage of psychiatrists for children in our state. :frowning:

At least he’s not retiring!

Darling son, I love you and your family, and touched that you want me to join you for your mini vacation. Yes, I know I am there to lend a hand with the little ones; that is something I am happy to do. BUT, other than the date, which is in 4 weeks, you have changed the location from Maine, to Montreal, to Denver, and now Boston. You know I am a planner and really don’t want to book a last minute expensive flight. Make a decision already!

A jury duty summons on D’s due date! Really? OK at least you can request a change of date one time.

I’d like to elaborate. When we lived at 7000’ elevation a garden was out of the question. DW wanted to garden but couldn’t, and instead amused herself playing FarmVille, a Facebook game where you build a farm, expand it, and organize it. Organization is DW’s obsession, and the kids and I teased her a little about how neatly she organized her virtual farm.

Now we live in the Pacific NW where anything and everything grows, and she’s able to organize her “farm” in real life. Gardening isn’t my thing, but I’m happy to build her raised beds, garden sheds, you name it.

She has nicely organized plots of cucumbers, artichokes, garlic, tomatoes, kale, sweet peas, berries, grapes, and more. Not to mention the “tree zone” where we have cherries, figs, apples, and more.

We’re both very happy here.

Every time I go to the eye doctor they give me a different one. I did get the same one in Nov and Dec, but then they had no appts in jan, failed to call me back, I got into treatment for another illness and then in June I finally got back in. I’d sent emails to the Nov/Dec doc with no answer because, oh, she wasn’t with them anymore. I liked the new guy and he seemed more skilled. Next appt tomorrow (he only works at this location on Fridays).

Today I get an email after 5 pm that they’ve assigned me to another doctor. A doctor who works at children’s hospital! I’m not a child. I want the other doctor, and I won’t be paying a cancellation fee since they changed the appt without asking me. Can’t go next Friday as I’m on vacation, so that puts me out 2 weeks when I’m supposed to go every 4 weeks and that would be 6 weeks.

I’ll be looking for another doctor (but it will still be 3-4 weeks till next doctor).
