I know change is inevitable, but I wish people would stop moving my cheese. Particularly at work.

I really need to unfollow the woman on Facebook. About every third post she makes I want to throw something at my screen. Just totally and completely unaware that the things she says are hateful. But call her out on it? Then you get defensiveness and anger. I need to unfollow.

I am trying so hard to endow this scholarship but the university counsel keeps rejecting my preferences for whom the scholarship goes it.

Apparently under “new” federal guidance, you cannot specify that a scholarship is for a particular gender. (Or race/ethnicity or LBGT.) I wanted this scholarship to go a first generation in college student, and if one who meet the criteria (specific major, modest 3.0 GPA) cannot be found, then it should go to female student who meets the same criteria. (Same major and GPA)

The university lawyer suggested that as an alternative an eligible student would be one who belonged to a university-recognized organization that promotes the interests of women in this STEM field. But there isn’t one listed on the university’s approved list of student organizations.

Grrrr!

Sabadog’s blood work came back and her liver enzymes are finally within the normal limits. After expensive tests, medication, then a liver biopsy, four months of twice daily medication, and more expensive tests, once she finishes this prescription, she won’t have to go back for four months. She is just the best and sweetest girl and I am so grateful to have more time with her. It is something I can be happy about.

Yeah. No. Time and perspective.

OK, kids, since you know everything and we know nothing, we will consider you FULLY launched. Good luck!

Whew! Thank you, S, for thinking to let me know that you were okay before I got the emergency-contact call.

BIL- it’s been over 40 years. Could you please learn to spell my name correctly?? It would be so easy to “accidentally” misspell your name (which is very easy to misspell), but I wouldn’t do that, even to make a point.

I know you’re a competent adult but I’m still going to worry every moment of the next two weeks as you travel solo through Asia.

You are totally flat out wrong. Nurses and patient care techs don’t “have too much power.” It’s the opposite. You do realize, don’t you, that when you’re an inpatient in the hospital, you actually end up seeing your doctor for MAYBE 5 minutes every day?

So who do you think it is that alerts the doctor if something is going south?

IT’S THE NURSES, YOU FOOL!

Nurses are the core of what makes a hospital run smoothly. Be kind to your nurse, and they’ll move mountains for you.

I’ve been enjoying the bird feeder. Woodpeckers, blue jays, chickadees, cardinals. Other species that I enjoy watching.

Today the grackles came back and they are a nuisance! Completely overwhelm the whole thing. Boo!
