Say it Here ‘Cause You Can’t Say it Directly—The Get it Off Your Chest Thread (NO REPLIES TO OTHER POSTS)

Fly to S’s college graduation (departing from Jax airport), and it’s truly a lovely and beautiful weekend of celebrations.

However, you learn more about the Jax airport garage fire that occurred Fri bc their parking supervisor office tells you today to find “alternative transportation” from the airport when you return on Monday.

And that they are still assessing the garage building for possible collapse. Your vehicle is on top floor of garage.

I am really really good at real life Tetris…like today, when I totally rearranged everything in the garage because DH has taken up a new hobby (omg, another one? He’ll lose interest in a couple of months just like the prior one) and now wants a “workshop area” in the garage.

HIS version of rearranging everything meant that we couldn’t fit the cars in the garage. Husband then had epic hissy fit/tantrum watching me undo his ‘reorganizing.’ Now, thanks to Ms. I Am Awesome At Tetris, there’s more floor space in the garage AND the cars fit.

His new hobby? Leather working. Like he wants to make stuff out of leather. Has shown me countless photos of some of the ugliest purses I’ve ever seen. He even wants to make D24 a passport holder out of leather. Oh my gosh please don’t. :joy: In the interest of marital harmony, I asked him if he could make a leather-bound tiki mask or something similar for our Jungle Cruise guest bedroom. Or something Southwest-y for our Big Thunder Mountain Railroad bedroom. But he doesn’t know that the primary bedroom is themed after Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. So if any of you spill the beans, you all are dead meat.

Notes on work.

Dear young staff, your Mom just died at age 50, with complications from diabetes, dialysis, amputation, wound healing, and infection. I’m troubled by your food choices, including bringing 2L bottles of soda to work.

Just my opinion and some life experience, but it is easier to keep good health from a young age, than to try to recover at a later date.

Further, I am troubled by your spending. (I know what you make). DoorDash lunch every day? I’m thinking that you worked two hours to pay for that lunch.

I’m only the boss and can’t provide any real guidance on this without crossing into your lane.

next time you tell me how your homeschooling upbringing was better than public school, I will bring up today and how you had zero knowledge of Mt St Helens…

One friend/neighbor’s husband just died last week. Another was just diagnosed with metastatic brain cancer. A third was diagnosed with a deteriorative neuromuscular disorder and another with MCI. Aging sucks.

Underpromise + overdeliver = happy customers
Overpromise + underdeliver = very very angry customers

Managing the expectations shouldn’t be rocket science.

Little kitty, YOU CAN’T CHEW ON CORDS!!! We really want to give you full run of the house, but chewing on cords could get you killed! Otherwise you’ve been such little trouble… hopefully you’ll get over this desire soon, or we’ll find a way to kitten-proof them.

The trip to Poland went a lot better than I expected. DS behaved himself pretty well. He had one intense conversation with his father, but it ended well. I did have a chuckle at one point. In the context of a conversation I can’t recall exactly, he mentioned coming home when he was 22 or so and criticizing how I was cooking a pot roast. “I always felt bad about that, and the roast actually came out great. I was kind of high strung then…” It took all my strength not to laugh. You felt bad about that, after writing us a long letter saying that we were horrible parents? So bizarre. It will be very interesting to see how he communicates with us now that we’re home. Will he still insist on joint online counseling?

I feel terrible saying I don’t like the gift you gave me, but you keep buying similar pieces of jewelry and I keep saying I don’t like them and NEVER wear them. How do you not get that? Not wanting to be unappreciative, yet left feeling like you don’t care enough to take a bit more time to find something I really would like, appreciate, and wear.

We are trying to get your power back on as soon as possible, but this wasn’t a minor storm, it was a very large tornado that left a lot of damage. It doesn’t help that we need to keep pulling our crews off the job every time they hear gunfire, including one of our crew witnessing a murder.

Stop and Shop, you can do a LOT better–it’s no wonder whenever a Trader Joe’s or Market Basket opens up near one of your stores, the S&S quickly closes.

You had only one, ONE full service register open, despite a decent # of shoppers in the store. There were 4 people in line with FULL carts. We had ~$90 of groceries in ours, so our choice was a LONG wait in line, or use the dread self-serve…

SO—we go to the self-serve station that is set up for larger orders, um, no----the stupid scale that’s there to keep me from stealing stuff kept locking the scanner every time dear wife tried to bag something—GRRRRRRR—and the self-service employee was disinterested in helping us to keep this from happening–I guess we were disturbing her phone time, or whatever.

If we’re to do YOUR work and cash out our purchases, you should give us a discount!!!

Competitors NEVER have just ONE register open.

I am DONE with S&S, even though they are everywhere around us.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I love Costco. Every time I find a new product, I wish we had one locally.

Daughter-in-law, you are a peach. And very much like me, which means you’re the opposite of my son. :joy: I am so impressed with you. I just hope my son treats you as well as you deserve - he is darned lucky to have you. I can tell you adore each other and work together well, so I’m hopeful. It does make me sad you don’t want kids, but I will not say anything!!

Just venting. I am cursed with waiting for medical appointments, though usually the dentist isn’t too terrible. But there I sat for almost an hour while 4 people who got there after me were taken back. And this is a solo practice, and I was right on time. I have a HUGE phobia of the dentist. My anxiety is always through the roof as it is. Sitting there for an hour getting mad doesn’t help. I wound up telling them I’d come back later. They didn’t have another appointment for 3 months. Fine by me.

Either admit you don’t think you can come to the wedding, or buy the !@#$ plane tickets already. It’s not a hotel, it won’t get cheaper the longer you wait. Or if you can’t figure out how to do it online, just ask. Or if you maxxed out your credit card, tell someone. You are 84. You are allowed to have help.

I’m a little obsessed watching “my eaglets” (like no one else is watching them except the 37k that are on YouTube right now.) Really takes the stress off but I’m still very anxious about them leaving the nest - any day now - don’t need to be an empty nester again!!!

So, no tax on your tip, well, that just makes me want to reduce your tip amount. You make a living on those tips and a salary. I get taxed on everything we make. I guess this bothers me becaue it is just another way to let the owner off the hook from paying a decent wage and sticking it to the public to pay for their help. I’m sure I’ve got this all wrong, but it just doesn’t sit right with me.

With the scrutiny we are putting teachers and school administration under (they are basically responsible for every wrong that happens in a school) these days, in 10-20 years there will literally be few TRAINED teachers to educate our children. If only we held society and parents to the expectations we have for educators.

Yesterday I called to make an eye appt. The recorded message said a different name, so when a person came on the line I asked if I had the right place (calling the number on a business card). Oh, that’s our affiliated office, which is closed but you can come and see that doctor at this office. The office I was going to is 1 mile from my house and I can (and have) walked there along the walking trail. The other office is about 10 miles (and 3 counties) away. NO ONE would go that far to see an optometrist when there are dozens in my area. Is the (original) office going to reopen or move? Don’t know. Is Dr. P going to join a different office in this area? Don’t know. What are you recommending to patients who don’t want to drive that far? (like another optometrist) Nope, can’t tell me anything.
