Last night around 9pm my best friend called to say he just watched a social media video of my LEO son on a specific call for service. His middle son, a Marine down at Camp Lejeune, originally saw the video on social media. He texted it to his older brother. His older brother texted it to my friend. My friend then texted it to me. It’s interesting to be part of a very big brotherish situation.
I just watched a video of a young man who has been battling brain cancer for more than a year and a half (we don’t know him, but we know his dad). He just completed his 52nd radiation treatment. The physical changes in him from start to present are so sad to see, but his spirit remains strong & he embraces each day. Watching him made me remember that life is a beautiful journey, and we need to appreciate each day even if those days aren’t always easy.
Soccer son walks into my bedroom last evening and asks if Shawshank is a good movie.
Are you kidding me?
I have told him at least 10 times that it is one of my favorite movies.
He tells me a group of guys he follows on Youtube say it’s one of the best movies they’ve seen. Pay no attention to your dad. By all means listen to these Youtube nitwits. LOL!
I marched him right out to the livingroom and we watched it together.
Oops, forgot it was Friday afternoon of Memorial Day Weekend when I offered to pick you up at the airport. I spent more time in the car getting there and back than you spent on your flight!
Really people!! You arrive late to the college graduation and proceeded to talk the entire time, scream loudly at your graduate — right into my ear and spill coffee on my husband. A pox on you!!
Nice job UCLA! Way to not give up.
I just read a fascinating article in National Geographic about “Oases on the Brink.” Now I can’t get the song Midnight at the Oasis out of my head! Guess I’ll have to send my camel to bed …
I had to watch my brother’s dogs this past week. I went over yesterday about noon to check on them and heard a weird noise, noticed there was water all over the kitchen floor and that a hose had burst under the dishwasher (which luckily can be pulled out easily as it has had leak issues before). A neighbor was able to help me shut off the water and set me up with his shop vac.
For the next 5 hours, I vacuumed up water and pulled out boxes from under the table and bench (my brother is a hoarder of stuff). There were several rugs that had to be taken to the back porch to dry, but then the rain started so no drying out happened.
Threw away a ton of reusable bags (which he never reuses) and lots of take out containers that can be reused as food storage, but no one needs that many food storage containers. Organized all the remaining reusable bags, but none will be reused.
He came home at midnight to no water in his kitchen (on the floor or coming from the faucet), a living room full of boxes of things that came from the kitchen, a fan running to further dry things out, and a trash can full of wet boxes, take out containers and any reusable bag that had a tear r any food or drink spilled in it.
He owes me. And the neighbor who helped me. I’m thinking prime rib dinner.
I know we have different thoughts to how early to get somewhere, but sometimes you need to allow more time. When you have play tickets for a 6:30 show, going to dinner at a restaurant at 5:00 when the trip to the theater is 20 minutes by way of Uber, you will not be in your seats on time. As you husband is on crutches, it isn’t like you will be able to sprint in.
Is our DOT secretly converting the 405 into a Formula 1 track?! That stretch just past the Seahawks training facility is simply ridiculous! Glad I don’t have to drive through that constant construction mess daily. I feel sorry for those who do.
My husband has been playing some on line game.
Last week he decided it was too much work and quit.
Today he decided to join again but start over at the beginning.
I’ve been singing Hotel California to him all day! ![]()
Not that I don’t have a ahem! problem with some on line board myself ![]()
It’s a lovely place, a lovely place
Pox on you, idiot Amazon driver. I’m not going to report you to the mothership because you probably make peanuts and hate your job anyway… and the mothership will not do anything anyway… but it was very impressive how you managed to destroy not one, but two solar lights along our driveway! Rest assured, the replacement will not come from Amazon. ![]()
Apparently the women at the table next to us wasn’t kidding when she mentioned to the server she had a peanut allergy. Nice of the hostess to offer a free dessert when she started going into anaphylactic shock but I suspect the ensuing panic and epi pen injection wasn’t worth it.
Had never seen this sort of reaction up close but very scary.
Xfinity you are horrible. I have to online chat with 2 agents and spend 30 minutes just to get back the discount that “expired” on my account.
I know my Netherlands trip is nearing because this morning I was able to secure a coveted ticket to Anne Frank House. They release 6 weeks in advance, and go very quickly. In anticipation, I’m re-reading Diary of a Young Girl - I’m struck by how eloquent she was for such a young girl (13-15) writing a diary.
My travel calendar for this trip is filling up quickly. Everything I wanted to do really hinged on getting this ticket -
For the second time in 15 months my super fancy, ultra thin carbon fiber laptop decided to croak. I spent the first 4 hours today without my laptop while IT gave it CPR to no avail. Now I have a brand new replacement. My current problem? No bookmarks and no passwords so I’m currently reaching out to my suppliers to be re-granted access to their corporate sites. It’s going to be a long and tedious afternoon full of password changes and layers of two factor authentication. ![]()
Ugh. I seem to attract colds lately, and this one is epic. I’m barking like a seal, sneezing convulsive sneezes, and going through tissues like nobody’s business. At least I haven’t had a fever. But I look (and feel) really, really awful!
Freakin economy and financial concern. If this beloved bakery in a Detroit neighborhood that needs its vitality goes down, I will be so, so sad/mad.

Why does everything have to revolve around you? Our dear friend is struggling with cancer and it looks like her time is imminent and she is upset since she can’t talk to you or rely on you for emotional support.
