Oh Jersey, must you perpetually be the butt of every joke? My chem teacher does a regular schtick about Jersey in class. We all think its hilarious, except for the kid who’s from Jersey. ;)

Haha. I have mad Jersey pride. Our air pollution could kick your state’s ass any day. ;)

I dunno… L.A’s got some nasty smog

not san diego though :)

Oh, you also can’t beat our PSAT NMSF cutoff, diners, White Castles (come on, you know you wished you lived here after that movie!), jug handles, Parkway, shore (not beach!), full service gas stations, pork roll, WaWas, day trips to “the city”, subs, aggressive drivers, unsanitary drinking water, or skeeball!

Which “New ____” state doesn’t require “New” to identify it?! Mexico? York? Hampshire? Oh yeah, it’s Jersey.

haha, good one. but please, wawa is obviously a philly inovation. we hvae all the city has to offer in close proximity to everything else. and theyre called hoagies, lol. i feel bad for jersey, cuz its sort of the armpit between new york and philly.

and i happen to like in n out very much. kahleeforneeuh!!!.

hey…I was just curious, anyone else from Kansas?

Philadelphia is a myth. It doesn’t exist.

At least we aren’t Delaware!

Pshhhhh…who needs White Castle when we have In n Out right next door :)

Funny, I haven’t heard of a movie called “Harold and Kumar go to In N Out”…? ;)

im confused, theoneo. please explain my address, for i seem to be living in a myth. hmm. lol. i love pointless “i’m from…” arguments.

PHILLY! what what?

bump…

Hey everyone! I want to thank all of you on this forum for keeping me sane in the past couple of weeks (EA application+ sat’s…). Here in the Netherlands, most colleges do not select students, therefore nobody understands how stressful this process is and how much time it costs, but every time I visited this forum and saw there were others like me, who worried about the same things (and insignificant details) and panicked about clicking that very scary submit button, I was comforted by the fact that there were thousands of other who went through the exact same things and I realized that if you guys could do it I could do so as well!
I’ve never before felt so connected to a bunch of strangers, so thanx! But anyway, herere my stats:

Academic interests: cognitive science + ethics, politics and economics
What you’ll do if you get into Yale: not believe it, reread it a thousand times while crying and than scream and tell all my family and friends (even though it will be 11 pm in the Netherlands) and be happy for the rest of the year
Your catch: not a lot of dutch people apply, I speak 4 languages and can translate latin and basic greek. My recs and essys are also pretty good (I hope)
Why you want to go to Yale: amazing academic opportunities, perfect majors, great campus. And when I visited last spring I felt I belonged there…
Where you’d LOVE to study abroad: apparently new haven.
Expected response to going off on your own: feeling great but scared to death and cry because I will be thousands of miles away from the people I love… But it will be worth it!!
Fears about Yale: none (accept for a great dislike for the president of your country…like all dutch people)

flowertje, a lot of us have a great dislike for him to so you won’t be alone.

muyloca: where in maryland? i’m from perry hall (baltimore county) and i go to a catholic school in baltimore city (mercy). yeah…

and if i get in i’ll finally get the teachers to stop talking about the girl from eight years ago who went to harvard. she’s still a legend.

hahah I guess ole Bushie isn’t as popular everywhere as he is in Texas.

hahaha no, not really. at least in baltimore, there are about… 10 people who support him. total. in the whole city. and connecticut is rich, so you’d think republican, but also quite liberal, because of yale

We have like 5 in Jerseyan suburbia. My friend actually mutes his conservative views in LA because my teacher gave him looks when he expressed his support of Bush’s nuclear peace talks and stuff. It’s so funny.

Conservatives are laughed at here. It’s like, “Yo man. You’re so dumb. I bet you’d vote for Bush. HAHAHAHA!”

Trust me. It’s mad funny.

conservatives are raped and pillaged at my school

i think thats a bit extreme. I am personally liberal but I realize that both sides need each other. Neither would be able to make sermons from their soaa boxes if the other didn’t exist, and everyone can agree that both sides love to do that.
