MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program, a $500 million education initiative launched in 2012, funds the education of some 15,000 young people primarily from Sub-Saharan Africa. Six U.S. universities are taking part, including U.C. Berkeley, Stanford, Arizona State and Duke.
