I am not having that much luck with finding scholarships on some university’s websites, so are there any programs specifically for helping students pay for tuition if they’re going to uni in england full time? (Not study abroad) Everyone is telling me Fulbright but it looks as though it’s only for postgrad… I am going to study Journalism; just saying this to help with the answer. Thanks!

I’m afraid there aren’t many options for financial assistance for overseas undergraduates, especially for journalism, which isn’t regarded as a strongly academic subject in the UK at undergrad level, and I don’t believe it opens many doors in the industry either. Most potential journalists here do an unrelated degree, get a lot of experience on campus newspapers etc, and then may do a more-respected postgrad journalism course. But there aren’t many options for British students regarding financial help for such courses, let alone overseas ones. You might find this website interesting:

What is your long term goal, may I ask? Originally you were talking about studying marketing. If you want to be a journalist, where do you hope to end up working? Are you a dual citizen with the UK or another EU country or if you stayed in Europe would you need visas for employment?

The UK model is that full fee paying foreign students subsidise the home students. Therefore you are very very unlikely to obtain any significant funding from a UK source, Many foreign students here have funding from their own countries.

Some universities have scholarships for students from specific counties. See for example Cambridge linked below. However, you usually have be admitted first, and it is extremely rare for such scholarships to cover all costs.

No, I actually started writing for my local newspaper and thought that journalism was a much better fit for me! I might try majoring in history because like you said, many journalist get a degree in something else… I also have accepted the fact that I’m not getting a scholarship if I end up going. Lol but thank guys!
