School spirit any1?!

My high school really doesnt have that much school spirit and they have to have a spirit club just to try and get some more in the school…is that lame or what?

no not really

no its not lame.sometimes I have no school spirit, but then there’s certain times…like the first and last football games, blowout basketball games, homecoming week…that I have so much school spirit haha and i love it.
why don’t people have spirit at your school?

No, it’s the same at my school. Generally, only kids who are on the team actually care.

Why is that lame?

its lame because we have to have a club around to help with the school spirit when people should already have it and want to show it.

We have A LOTTTTT of school spirit. Easily the most in the district, and from what I’ve heard, in all the surrounding areas.

It is awesome - I mean, it sounds corny but I think its so awesome to see a 1000 different people with different interests, ideas, thought, etc. just coming together to support GOLD, GREEN, AND BLUE!!! It’s awesome.

And we do a have “spirit awareness” club, but basically thats just to earn Leadership class credit and to help out with activities for the Friday’s we have 1 lunch for the entire school (we always have an activity, whether its a limbo contests, foot-ball-on-knees when Football season starts, hula lessons when the weather starts turning nice, etc.)

I absolutely love my school as far as the spirit factor goes - It just makes it all enjoyable :)

hahah. I think it depends on the school. Our school doesn’t have a spirit club, and well…no one shows school spirit. we don’t even have a homecoming dance.

Wow… my school is extremely spirited. The student body even made our own spirit club with a whole line of clothing. haha

Football games/pep rallys… all that jazz.

I think my school has moderate school spirit. It seems that people only care when the school wins big games or at the state level though.

Then again, who am I to evaluate the enthusiasm towards sports when I surround myself with those that could care less. Personally, I don’t see the point…waste of energy.

technol21, well said. haha

every new season we have a spirit assembly during school hours where we do random stuff to get us fired up about school athletics. a lot of people ditch it even though security guards are on the lookout and chase you down the street if you try to escape–yeah it’s that bad. we’ve had everything from a fake quidditch match to the special education kids’ basketball team play our girls varsity team.

you have a special ed team play your girl’s varsity team?
uhhh…

they had them lose on purpose. but it was still painful to watch from a moral perspective.

I think it’s admirable that the school wants to up their spirit. However, I think most schools go about it the wrong way.

My school has people who have a lot of school spirit. But I don’t go to pep fests or anything…

Barley anyone cares about the outcome of school games here. I might start caring more now that I joined the marching band.
