I have placed internationally at FIRST robotics competition, am captain, and have done lots for my robotics team. I am interested in this major and also feel that if I applied as a robotics major to more selective schools, I would have a better shot at admission because of my spike in robotics.
Which schools have a robotics major or minor?
The school that is most often associated with Robotics Engineering is Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). They have the only ABET-accredited BS program in Robotics Engineering. WPI has historically done a lot of work with FIRST, and has special scholarships for FIRST team members.

The only other school that I know of with a distinct Robotics Engineering major is the University of California at Santa Cruz. It’s not ABET-accredited, but this is a branch of engineering where ABET accreditation is probably optional.

Carnegie Mellon has a large Robotics Institute. There is no standalone major, but students can add Robotics as a second major.

There are probably many schools where you could study robotics within a Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science department. For example, Georgia Tech offers a “Concentration in Automation and Robotics” within their Mechanical Engineering degree program.
