School?

Hi, I’m a Class XI student from India, and I hope someone can address the major problem I a m facing.
Two months ago, I got into the best school in our city by means of an entrance exam. Less than ten students were admitted out of the 70+ who applied. I decided to shift to this school from my old school, where I have been studying for 5+ years. However, once I started school recently I realized that the school is not as good as it appeared. I waste almost 2 hours in commute by bus. I am unable to find time to keep up with my swimming and cycling routine. The teachers aren’t good, and only a small percentage of the students are competant (They are NTSE scholars). I am unable to blend in, and constanty regret making this decision.
My old school however is close to home. My comfort level here is high, as I am on familiar ground. The teachers know me very well; while they initially had problems with my ‘classroom indiscipline’, they understand me well. However, this school is comparitively less prestigious than the current one. The school I attend now has routinely produced CBSE toppers and kids get good ranks in JEE. It is one of the top schools in the country. It has, in the past, sent a kid each to Stanford, Princeton and UChicago and 2 to MIT. My previous school has only sent one kid to UCB, that too a kid who joined in 11th and was head boy. The students are of a comparitively average caliber although some new kids are supposed tobe good.
Sorry for the rant. But here’s the main question. The exhausting travel( I also have IIT coaching classes, so I am busy 7 days of the week.) may be taking a toll on my health and my mental abilities. The minute I reach home I need to sleep. I have applied for a Transfer Certificate from my old school, but I have not yet collected it. I can still switch back. I do not know whether my new teachers will know me well enough in a year. So, is it more valuable to do well in a lesser known school, or struggle socially, emotionally and physically to fit into a new school in a crucial time period? Please consider it from all angles, i.e with respect to fruitfulness, college admission, etc. I have very little time to decide, so quick advice will be MUCH appreciated!
Thanks!

hey accioquote! Well, in my opinion, you should stay in your old school if you don’t like the new school, there’s no point being here! Moreover you didn’t clarify whether you will take the SAT or not. From the post I could understand that you’re going to take the IIT exam since you go to coaching classes. The school doesn’t matter at all in case you go to IITs, so I dont think there’s a point staying at your new school

well, I actually plan not to take the IIT exam. I was looking at it from the point of top foreign universities!

You dont really have to have to go a great high school to get into a good U.
