So kind of copying this thread from the College Admissions forum, but since it is different for internationals, thought that this might be sort of a helpful thread. Also please post some basic stats, because I believe it is different when you have low stats for the school and received a bad package, or great stats and yet again not enough money.

Villanova gave me exactly $0.00.

Whaaat really?! Are your stats high for the school?

I think they are OK. 2100 SAT (1420 M+CR) 750 Math1, 800 Math2(two math subject tests really put me in disadvantage), not many ECs though…

I got nothing from Cornell which makes it very difficult for me to decide whether to go there or not.

I got 2350 SAT (1600 M +CR) and 800 in Math 2, Physics and Chem. Decent EC (basically 13 years of music). National Merit Winner.

But then it is Cornell. But I have no idea what to do now.

well Cornell is need-based, so if you can pay for it on paper, they wont give you money, sorry, but great stats though, did you apply as a music major?

Cornell is known for giving insufficient financial aid, especially for internationals.

Thanks.

I didn’t apply for music because I really want to do Physics. And honestly I don’t know if I will be able to pay for it.

well, but if it Cornell, and your family is able to pay, with less than 1/3 loans, I suggest u go…cuz Cornell really rocks u after graudation

I applied to Georgetown, and eventually got accepted. I applied for a nearly full ride financial aid but received nothing. They wrote me an email saying that they know that I would need money to attend, but their financial aid budget for internationals “did not stretch far enough to include me”.
So it is basically a rejection. They end the letter by saying: “If you are able to pay for your four years at Georgetown, then you’re still welcome on campus.”

I knew that their funds for internationals were limited. But I wouldn’t have thought that they would offer 0.0 dollars for someone whose parents’ income is actually lower than the annual tuition fee:S

^ Got the same for Clark. They wrote me a rejection letter but literally offered admission if I was able to pay.

same by Georgetown ksanyee :D

interested in robbing a bank together?

Count me in ;)

Depauw Uni

Drexel Uni

Same with Lawrence Uni.

Repeated again and again how I was a perfect fit for their college but could only attend if I won the lottery.

Cornell grad here: NO undergraduate education is worth the kind of debt that CiTreofa is suggesting. Choose a college or university that you can afford for now. Apply to Cornell (or where ever it is you want to go) for graduate school.

tobiz.int>let’s go!
Which bank??:D

i wonder why this thread is around… internationals hardly get aid
(except for ivies or highly funded pvt ones)

Haverford basically accept me but put me on FA waitlist, meaning if sb admitted with FA decides to go elsewhere, they’ll consider me. Haverford is quite “poor” compared to other privates (williams amherst wesleyan etc). Luckily I got in Reed with full ride. This is my only acceptance with aid (waitlisted by 6 and rejected by 6). FA intels face incredible odds.

Reed is awesome. (I got rejected there, but it is awesome). And you got a free ride, that’s even rarer. You’ve got nothing to fuss about! ;)
