stats:
3.96 gpa (weighted)
3 APs & 8 hnrs (sen. yr. will be taking 6 AP & 1 hnr)
ranked 29/605 (public)
27 ACT (for now)
my ec’s aren’t the best, because i have to work full time while in school.
will be appplying for financial aid (single parent income $30,000)
i’m white, from arkansas, and lesbian (if that helps)

college interests:
good pre-med program (bio major?)
decent housing
somewhat diverse
GLBT acceptance/community
10,000+ students
out of state

i’m looking for some good schools,
but none that are way out of my league.

thanks in advance.

I doubt sexual orientation helps, but I guess it brings diversity. I doubt it will count against you though.

Try UCSD. It is a bit of a reach and you are out of state unfortunately, but it is good for premed I heard.

Penn State, Ohio State, Worcester Polytechnic, Rensselaer Polytechnic and Univ of Rochester as matches/matches with possible scholarships–John Hopkins as a reach.

all have good biology, bioengineering, or biomedical programs

Also, local to where I live is UCSC–and we have a large gay/lesbian community (the former chancellor was even a lesbian)–and it has a good biological sciences program. Your sexual preference won’t make a bit of difference in whether you are accepted to the school or not, though.
I’d rate you as a match for the school, even as an out-of-state candidate.

As far as UCSD (suggested above), I’d rate you as a slight reach to reach there as an out-of-state candidate.
