SDSU Class of 2022 Applicant Thread

@kbutter1234 I got my estimate months ago too and I don’t have a decision yet. I don’t know if it means anything but I hope so.

I got my financial aid estimate a long time ago as well. I think I recall it saying that it doesn’t mean I was accepted though. Still pending… hoping for a decision today!

Does anyone know if another wave of decisions will be released today?

Does sdsu care more about your EI or more about consistancy between gpa and test scores? My EI is pretty high because I have a high gpa (4.3) but a low sat (1290). I’ve noticed that many accepted into the nursing program already have consistent gpa and sat scores. By this i mean that if they have a 4.0 gpa, their sat will be what someone with that gpa would expect to have (1350-1400+). I just don’t know if EI matters more than your sat, since EI makes your gpa worth more.

@bullterriers I believe so! Multiple people on this thread have called admissions and they said that decisions are rolling throughout the week in random waves.

Has anyone been accepted for history major yet? I’m still pending

My son is a history major and is also still waiting to hear

@cupcake01 I think EI matters but the details that make up that score can also matter. I believe for Nursing applicants the reviewers are also checking for completed math/science requirements and grades within those in addition to overall GPA. I don’t know if there is also a minimum threshold for GPA or test score. If that’s the case then why have an EI at all? Hopefully you’ll hear some good news today.

This process is absolutely ridiculous. How you can’t have everything reviewed and ready to send at one time after 4 months is beyond comprehension. For those admission apologists I see on here saying “they received a record # of applicants, etc.”, you are enabling incompetence.

Yes the wait was long and stressful, but it’s part of the process. They are doing the best they can. It’s a much more arduous process than many realize.

@avielse That didn’t take long. You’re wrong. CS & more specifically SDSU has decided to dumb down their selection criteria so much that it is literally about entering in several criteria and making selections. A fifth grader to right the program to sort leaving probably less than 10% requiring further review.

Is it really that hard for the CSUs, though? They only look at stats. It seems like they should get it done faster than all of the holistic colleges, but the opposite is happening.

While not justifying the UC or private process, at least they have to hand review every application. I tend to agree more on the side CS as they take the subjectiveness out of the system and don’t allow MANY unhonest students and parents to manipulate the system.

I know someone who works for admissions, it’s been weeks of very late nights… I’m not wrong. Have a great day

Did anyone do zoology/pre-bio??? Please post. Stats

I’ve talked to someone in admissions as well, and they really are doing the best they can. They explained that the number of applicants as well as a new application/process is what’s slowing down everything. Getting angry at the admissions people won’t speed up the decisions, and I know it’s frustrating, but just be patient.

Can someone explain to me what GPA sdsu took? I have a 3.9 W GPA, but a 3.4 UW GPA. Would they not consider the honors and AP classes I took? I feel like if they took my UW GPA, I wouldn’t have a chance sadly.

Sorry for “picking on” everybody. Forgot where I’m at.

has anyone heard back today yet?

still pending here.
