SDSU Class of 2024 Application Thread

@remynic2020: International Business at SDSU is a highly ranked major. What major does he want to change into from IB?

**You may change to a pre-business major if you meet one of the following:

You have completed 6-29 college units and have an overall GPA of at least 2.0
You have completed 30-59 college units and have an overall GPA of at least 2.7
You have completed 60 units or more and have an overall GPA of at least 2.9

When you meet one of the requirements listed above, visit the Business Advising Center (EBA 448) for information on how to change your major.

You may not take RWS 290: Business Communications until you have declared your pre-business major. However, you may take all the other major preparatory courses and your general education courses if you are not a pre-business major.**

Once he changes to a “pre-business major”, he will have to qualify to declare his Business major and complete his upper division courses.

**Qualifying
Before you are eligible to declare an upper division major you must:

complete at least 60 units of college-level work
completed 9 preparation courses for the major with a C or better
have a 2.9 overall GPA
These requirements are called the impaction criteria.

Please note: All students are admitted into the pre-business majors until you meet the impaction criteria and declare an upper division major.

I just got accepted to the honors college today!!

@DanceMama2024 regarding schools delaying the deposit deadline, there’s a twitter account called AcceptGroup - if you look at it, they are frequently tweeting the updated list of schools that have delayed their decision (deposit) deadline to June 1. Also another Twitter account called Youth_Truth tweeted the list today. It’s on a Google doc and is being updated frequently. None of the schools you mentioned your daughter is considering are on the list at this point. I believe the dance program at LMU is considered quite good. I don’t know about the program at San Diego State.

My daughter accepted yesterday to WHC! She wasn’t accepted to SDSU on the early wave.

Her stats:
Eligibility Index of 1150
CSU GPA of 4.1
ACT 33 Composite
Very good ECs, but those aren’t pertinent.
In State

She was accepted at CalPoly SLO, SDSU, Oregon (Honors with top scholarship), CU Boulder (Honors with top scholarship), Wisconsin, ASU Barrett Honors (full tuition ride!)

Waitlisted at Washington, UCSD, UCSB. Waiting on Michigan, UCB, UCLA. Rejected at UT Austin.

UCSB was disappointing, as that was her first choice from the start, but she has come around to ASU as a tie or favorite.

I think it will come down to ASU Barrett and SDSU Honors.

For those of you accepted recently to WHC when did you apply and did you receive an email or just check a portal?

@gumbymom I am not sure. I think he thought his degree would be BS vs BA and he would be a part of the business college primarily. We both realize the IB major is highly rated and maybe we are not looking at it the right way. Most of the other schools hes considering, he is considered a business student… I have to really help him figure out what the differences are. Most of the info you provided… he would change majors (if he WAS to change majors) after he begins, correct?

@remynic2020: Yes, he would have to change majors after enrolling. At Freshman orientation, he can talk to an advisor on how to proceed.

** International business is an interdisciplinary major that culminates in a Bachelor of Arts degree offered jointly by the College of Arts and Letters and the Fowler College of Business.

This program integrates coursework in business administration, foreign language, and regional/cultural studies. It offers students an opportunity to combine two emphases, one in a language and one in regional/cultural studies, and to create a focused program of study suited to their individual interests and career goals. All students are required to spend a semester abroad and to complete an internship.

My daughter applied in November, and received the invite I believe by email 2 days ago. She wasn’t admitted with the first wave.

still no decision :frowning:

I applied in December and got admitted in December for film and tv!! I’m out of state and here are my stats:

3.33 gpa- my converted gpa for the California state system was 3.8
1100 SAT
Lots of ECs and leadership roles

I found out I was in by email- the email said congratulations, I didn’t even have to open the portal it just said it on the email!

Don’t lose hope everyone! People keep getting accepted everyday from what I’ve seen on the SDSU Facebook groups!

this is a joke, im starting to lose hope :frowning:

Sorry if I shouldn’t be posting my question here. My D was accepted at SDSU for the Fall but is unsure she wants to leave given COVID-19 (we’re in northern CA). Can her admission be deferred or does she just apply with the new batch of freshmen in the fall? Thank you!

@BellyFlop: She could contact admissions but rarely does any CSU allow deferral. Most likely she will have to reapply for the Fall 2021 if she prefers not start this year.

I was accepted to SDSU back in December! Waitlisted to CSULB!
I have been seeing/hearing of people getting accepted all throughout this week so don’t lose hope everyone !!

OOS Massachusetts
3.33 GPA ( my school doesn’t weight gpa)
4 APs, 3 honors classes
1100 SAT 600 English , 500 math
Major : film & tv production
Applied sometime in December and heard back in the same month

REMINDER: If you have decided to NOT Go, please let SDSU know asap so kids like my son can get off the waitlist! Thank you!

congrats. Did you find out on portal or letter in mail? My son still waiting to hear (out of state).

@grebmac I found out through email I didn’t even have to open the portal, on my email it said congratulations!! But it may be different for everyone
