These are the admissions’s factors considered by SDSU.

MULTI-FACTORED ADMISSION: As an impacted campus, admission is based on many factors. Weighted CSU GPA is the largest factor, but we also consider amount of A-G courses above and beyond the minimum, preparation towards intended major (courses and GPA), HS course rigor, first-generation, and local status.

Do you happen to know how students are pulled off the waitlist? Is it first on, first off? Do they do another review of all candidates when a spot opens?

^^!! also, does being local mean waitlist priority?

The waitlist is not ranked so not first on, first off. Usually the waitlist is just an extension of the original application review and admit criteria will be based which majors have open spots after the SIR deadline and SDSU’s institutional priorities. So very vague which is true for all school’s and their waitlist criteria.

Anyone know how many were taken off the WL the last coupe of years? My son was also WL’ed for CS.

Any waitlists for theater performance (audition major) - hoping it’s different!

Does anyone know if you can submit an appeal if you’re offered the waitlist?

SDSU has not allowed appeals from waitlisted students in the last few years but you can email admissions to confirm.

Thanks - will do!

I’m curious because in the paragraph on my daughter’s portal, it said she was eligible to appeal. And then once she accepted her Waitlist offer, the appeal part disappeared.

If you decline the waitlist, then you can appeal. According to the linked appeal page below, there is a list of reasons for filing an appeal.

https://admissions.sdsu.edu/appeals

Appeals and Documentation:

Request to submit late application.

Request to submit late fee.

Request to submit late transcripts, documents, or test scores.

Request to apply as a lower division transfer student.

Request to submit late Intent to Enroll.

Request to have application rolled over to a future term.

Request for re-evaluation of denied admission.

Request for reinstatement of admission. Admission was canceled or rescinded.
