@SDSUprettyplease No I dont think everyone that gets rejected gets that option when I called yesterday about my admission and getting rejected but having a waitlist option it essentially means that your grades are high enough that they would want you but the others you completed against just had higher GPAS’s and beat you out. So its only offered to few like I heard its like offered to something like 4,000 people and only around 1,000 will accept waitlist and then something like 50 or so will actually get admission of those higher people that did get accepted but chose to go to other schools leaving those open spots behind and those waiting on the waitlist to replace them.
@simplydiana Yeah I think i will it just blows because I am studying abroad in Italy which is going to make this so much harder to do and provide the information being in another country. I hope so too, and maybe if the appeal does not happen still that my waitlist option will come through but I don’t know possible that neither could. Thanks I hope you do too
@lkbeck93 I was also given the waitlist option. Do you know when waitlist decisions will be available? I thought I read somewhere that they’ll inform us within the first couple weeks of May but I’m not 100% sure.
@sdsuaztecs Yeah so if I were you I would mark yes and then wait. From what I was told they said it can be as early as May or literally until right before school starts that you could be admitted through the waitlist which I thought was crazy but basically until the very end of the summer you can be admitted through the waitlist.
@KK456: The CSU mentor application ask about parents education. CSU’s determine if you are First Gen. No box to check.

Would anyone happen to know how hard it is to switch your major at SDSU. For example, I applied for Gen Business Administration but I would most likely want to switch to accounting. How hard would that be?
@nionic you can change your major to whatever you want within the college as long as you have the minimum GPA (2.9 for Business). I emailed the head of Bus Admin with the same question and he told me that…super easy!
@Gumbymom If that’s the case, I’m assuming marking “some college” for one parent disqualifies you as first gen? I mean, you’re technically the first to get a degree, but not to go in general.
I’ve stopped checking the portal, it’s been giving me too much anxiety and stress this past week lol, just gonna wait till I get an email from them
@SDSUprettyplease I got rejected for accounting and I did not have the option of being wait listed. They just flat out denied me
@KK456 you are strong I’ve been obsessively checking every 30 min since March 1, and I just can’t help it. Work and school keep me more or less busy during the day, but as soon as I get home, it begins… I’ve been staying up way past my bedtime just to see if my portal changes at midnight… A part of me wishes they would reject me already, so that I can drop a stupid physics class I am kinda stuck in. It’s the very last prereq for my major, and if I knew I was rejected for sure, I would just stay at my CC for another year and take it next semester with a more competent instructor… Why is it taking them sooooo long! It’s a torture…
@aepaige You know, I think that while this kinda does disqualify you as a first get college student, it also shows that you come from an educated family, which might be a good thing. Being the first one to do this takes a lot of motivation and effort, but if you were raised in a family, where people put a high value on education, you already have tools to succeed in college, you are already a college material. You never know, maybe this is exactly what they are looking for. They probably get thousands of applications from first generation every year and it’s likely that they are sick of them. But I am of course only speculating
@lenocturne I wish they would just reject me now if they’re gonna do it anyways so I can drop a class and get a W before the drop deadline lol, I would also stay another year at community of I’m not accepted because sdsu is the only school I Applied to
Status: Pending
Major: Criminal Justice
GPA: 3.75
ADT: Yes, complete at end of Spring 2016
Pre-Reqs: Completed
Golden Four: Completed
SD Area: Yes, Miramar CC
@Someguy029 Hey! did you take extra criminal justice classes by chance?
@simplydiana Hi, I took a Constitutional Law class, which wasn’t a requirement for an ADT; took it for fun. Is that what you mean by extra criminal justice classes? Other than that, I just stuck with my major prep and made sure to do everything required for graduation and transfer.
@Someguy029 I just thought it was strange for our major that it didn’t require any actual criminal justice classes. We have the same GPA! I hope we both get in. :((
@lenocturne A lot of schools count someone as first gen if their parents didn’t graduate from college. Neither of mine graduated, they just took a couple of classes here and there. However, neither of my parents place any value on higher education, lol. My mom literally asked me why I go to college once.
Does it give you an advantage if your parents didn’t go to college? @aepaige
