Chief Longo asked for the public’s help in searching property and providing any information on JM’s actions and behavior after Sept 13. He says he won’t give up on the search for an alive Hannah until he must… Nothing new on JM except that he waived extradition and is headed back to VA. His attorney says he’s in good spirits under the circumstances and his family is relieved. And the Liberty expulsion on sexual assault allegations has been confirmed by Lynchburg officials. The victim didn’t pursue charges.

I wonder about the sister who let him use her car. Is that aiding a fugitive?

They will nail her if they can. If she knew that police were searching for him and didn’t report that he took her car, she will be in big trouble (especially if the search for the victim ends tragically).

This news guy is reporting that search teams with dogs are converging on Carter’s Mountain Orchard (it’s about 3 miles south of Monticello). http://www.twitter.com/Parker8News I know Captain Longo said they’re still searching lots of places and asking for people to search their properties so maybe this is just one place they’re looking but who knows.

I doubt it, since he wasn’t a fugitive when he left with her car. The very first warrant was for reckless driving - of her car.

That car is also now impounded and being searched for forensic evidence.

Flossy, in the NPR piece that you posted, I thought Wilke was a little crazy to have gotten in the car with his attacker for a ride to the hospital.

I don’t care how sorry Jesse acted, I couldn’t trust him in that situation.

I also thought it was interesting that they convinced Wilke to drop the charges, which would have been for violence, yet they say he has no violent charges against him, only traffic things. I wonder what other charges might have been dropped and if they weren’t what the record might look like?

The captain made note in the last press conference about Jesse Matthew growing up in the community, having ties to the community with family and friends. He volunteered, had friends in real life and lots of friends on Facebook, etc. He was a good athlete, player of the year in high school I think so lots of people probably know him. I imagine his friends and family, coworkers , acquaintances are reeling with all of this. I think charges are probably not pursued , charges dropped in more situations than most people realize.

I am heartsick for her parents.

“I am heartsick for her parents.” That’s a given. I can’t even imagine the pain they are in.

^me either.

You aren’t allowed to link to blogs, but InsideCville has a reporters account of the night Hannah disappeared, mostly about Matthew. In addition to playing football at Liberty, he was a legitimate state champion wrestler in hs in the 215 weight class…youre not going to find anyone more formidable than that.

And his behaviour as described by others doesn’t sound good.

No, it doesn’t. And, if those people are talking to a reporter it’s a safe bet the police have all of that and then some. And, some of them gave photo evidence. No-one has her getting into his car, though. It ends with them walking off together. What happened next? The question only he may be able to answer.

only child, only grandchild, heartbreaking.

She was not an only child. She has a brother. Still, it is heartbreaking.

He’s refusing to talk. I hope they have evidence. And, that story includes a couple of assaults over a few hours. He’s 32. Also, his lawyer is already starting to crack up.

http://wtvr.com/2014/09/24/lawyer-for-suspect-jesse-matthew-in-hannah-graham-case-is-mum/

I don’t think we know if he’s talking or not. That link was from prior to when he was caught in Texas. He’s not even back in VA yet.

His lawyer said he hopes to meet with him next week. Because of a conference closure or something he may not be in court in VA until Thursday. The lawyer probably told him to waive extradition and not say anything else. Don’t they always say that? Anyway, I doubt the lawyer knows much at this point, either. He certainly doesn’t seem very press friendly which is actually a little unusual for a defense lawyer.

And, a TX fisherman reports giving JM a fish to eat on the beach and says he also him asked for a cooler.

I doubt that this situation is what you’re hoping for when you sign up to do pro bono legal work.

Thank you for sharing this. I’ve been on the road and haven’t been able to stay on top of things.

The lawyer is Jim Camblos, who was pretty controversial when he served as Commonwealth’s Attorney. If you google his name, you’ll probably find some interesting things.
