The Holdovers is now $5.99 on Apple TV+
Another option, it’s streaming on Peacock, which is $5.99/month
Isn’t that with ads? My spouse would rather not watch something than watch ads that you can’t fast forward through.
I believe there is no commercial interruption with The Holdovers. The ads come before the movie starts.
We watched The Holdovers this weekend. The main acting was great and I usually like slice of life movies but this one did not live up to the hype for me. Since my hubby sat through it with me I sat through Dead Reckoning Part I. The stunts were pretty dazzling and it was entertaining, if a little too long. I love the supporting actors in that series.
Watched The Holdovers on Peacock which is included in my Comcast package. There were about 3 minutes of ads before the movie, then not a one during the movie itself.
Streamed Leave the World Behind over the weekend. Good, but not great. I enjoyed the book more.
We just watched Saltburn on Amazon. Another movie your adult children will not be comfortable watching with you! I thought it was excellent, but with a few pretty disturbing scenes. Barry Keoghan deserves the praise he has been receiving for his role as Oliver Quick.
Those Who Wish Me Dead 2021- Netflix- Angelina Jolie. I live in smoke jumper country and do appreciate the portrayal of them in this movie. I did learn a few survival skills with fires. I won’t give this part away. Violent and hokey at times but, I did like it. Never really impressed with AJ but I think she did a good job in this movie.
The Cokeville Miracle based on the hostage situation and bombing at Cokeville Elementary school in Cokeville, Wyoming in 1986. If you are looking for spectacular acting or the finest production values this one isn’t for you. But the children in this crisis reported then, and still to this day, of receiving miraculous protection during this incident. It is currently available on Prime.
I had never heard of this, and so I just read about the incident; how absolutely horrifying. I was in middle school at the time and it was so much easier then for children to be shielded from hearing about something occurring like this.
We just watched this movie too and I really enjoyed it. Great acting, great set decoration (they really raided a lot of thrift shops for decor and such!)
Not really a recommendation but a call for opinion
Has anybody watched Killers of the Flower Moon? Looks like an amazing story talking about a truly overshadowed part of American history and of course Martin Scorsese never ceases to surprise but it’s somewhere in the ballpark of around $20 to rent on Prime. Hoping the price drops at some point but I was just wondering what people’s thoughts were who have already seen it. Thanks!
We just streamed Killers of the Flower Moon this afternoon on Apple TV+. It was really good–I thought 3.5 hours would seem really long but it really held my attention (plus we could take a break around halfway through). I highly recommend it! We already subscribe to Apple TV, but I think a subscription is $10/month after a free 7-day trial.
I watched 1 hour 18 minutes of Killers of the Flower Moon on Apple TV. I hope to finish it but 3.5 hours was a little long for me.
I have seen the FBI story with Jimmy Stewart so know the story, but so far not a single FBI agent in ‘Killer’ yet.
This Wednesday I’m going to a free showing of UpGraded at the local movie theater. It’s a Prime feature and they offered a free showing with popcorn, and it is close to my house.
I expect it to be a Hallmark type love story (it is Valentine’s Day soon). But free, with popcorn.
I wasn’t sure if I wanted to watch Killers because I thought it might be too grim for me. But my Black Friday cheapo Apple+ subscription is running out soon so I gave it a try. I made it through an hour 20 minutes but it got too depressing for me to go on. Beautifully acted and great production, but I chose a long while back that I don’t want my entertainment to be make me feel worse instead of better. I read the summary of the entire movie and made the right call (for me) to stop.
We did the same thing. Walked out after 45 min, and I don’t think we’ve walked out of a movie for 20 years. So depressing and unjust, we couldn’t stand it, and it’s obvious which way it’s going to go. Fantastic acting, though.
Thank you everybody for the opinions - I really appreciated them.
I think “KotFM” might not be the best movie for my family but I am definitely going to watch it on my own I think. My parents are the same as Marilyn when it comes to how they want to feel after watching a movie and I guess I have always been different in that regard. I just want the director to get the story factually right. Thanks again!
We finally saw “Oppenheimer”. Very, very good.
