Watched Irish Wish on Netflix. Light hearted movie- glad to know Lindsay Lohan is doing movies. Her wiki bio is interesting.
Watched Nyad on Netflix- then read about the controversy surrounding her swim. I give her credit even if it did not follow the perfect rules. Like that they included real film.
Watched this at my local senior center. Very funny in a 90s kind of way–everyone smokes everywhere. Great cast: Diane Keaton, Goldie Hawn, Bette Midler.
“We are the World” is very well done and when I finally was hooked, I couldn’t stop. When I first started I got 20 minutes in and thought it was boring. Came back to it a few days later and continued and really liked. The behind the scenes story about not only the making of it, but all the celebrity info was fascinating. Who knew what a feat that was in many ways?
Mother Cabrini is well known in Denver and Colorado. There is a big shrine to her that you pass on the way to the mountains and Mother Cabrini Day is state holiday (sorry Columbus, you are out and another Italian is in).
We are going watch Roadhouse or Poor Things tonight. Honestly, I don’t know if I’m in the mood to view awkward sexual encounters. Roadhouse will probably be mediocre at best, but I think I’d rather watch Jake Gyllenhaal fight.
I watched the first half of Road House last night. It’s entertaining like the original. The film deviates quite a bit from the original, but I’m alright with that so far.
He’s ripped. Jacked. Conor McGregor, who plays the muscle hired by the antagonist of the film is essentially playing the part like he acts in real life.
We watched Road House. I enjoyed it! I consider the first one a classic - one of those films from my youth I’ve seen many times. I liked this new take on it.
I may have let out an involuntary “wow” when Jake was first onscreen because I heard my H say “oh boy”
I thought Road House was pretty good, even if the plot was a bit thin. It looks like Conor McGregor is starting his transition to movies by basically playing himself.
I rewatched Somewhere in Time on Freevue last night and had a few different reactions than earlier viewings. I do love the Grand Hotel so that’s always fun, and they are both beautiful people to see on screen. But this time Christopher Reeves’ character seemed a little stalker-y. He and Elise may have been fated to meet, and she may have been waiting for an unknown lover, but his pushiness bothered me. Granted he traveled through time to meet her, but a bit more subtlety would have worked better. He behaved like he was entitled to be with her.
Also this time around, I found the movie much more sad than romantic. They have a few days together, are wrenched apart, he dies of a broken heart, she apparently somehow figures out what happened and then goes to him the day she dies after living a long successful but sad life. Thus creating the time loop.
At least Rose led a long happy life before being reunited with Jack in death.
I think they were smart not to release Road House in the theaters. And not to charge $20 on Amazon. It wouldn’t have been worth it. But the movie was entertaining as a light TV watch.
Finally watched Poor Things. I enjoyed it very much. I thought Emma Stone was brilliant as Bella Baxter. Costuming and cinematography both wonderful. Yes, the sex was a bit much at times - I was like “ok, we get it, move on” but overall I thought it a pleasure to watch.
