We saw Ghostlight this afternoon. A little bit harrowing, a little bit funny, a whole lot of the redemptive power of Shakespeare. We all enjoyed it.
I saw it in the theater on Saturday and thoroughly enjoyed it!
Thelma is in theaters now.
Thanks for the heads up. We watched about half of Oppenheimer last night and will likely finish it tonight.
We went to see the Bikeriders last night. I thought it was well done. Jodie Comer’s performance was superb. An interesting story based on a book about the Vandals bike club from 1965-1973. It is violent.
Watched I’m Celine Dion on Amazon last night. Wow, it takes a lot of courage to allow the world to see one’s painful moments. No makeup, no glamour… just a human desperate to get back to her healthy self while raising awareness of a very rare, debilitating condition.
Under Paris is a great shark movie. And Paris for the Olympics which makes it more fun.
I’ve been on this thread to recommend Hallmark-ish movies like The Noel Diary and Love at First Sight on Netflix. Watched The Idea of You on Prime… It’s a drama, and not like a Hallmark movie. Obviously based on Harry Styles, and not a very creative plot. But Anne Hathaway was great, and the chemistry between the love interests was electric. Not a strong recommendation from me (only gets 6.4 on IMDB, which I understand), but if this type of plot may interest you, it is worth watching.
Ok…I admit we watched Beverly Hills Cop 4 on Netflix LOL. Movie was fine (I’d rate it below #1 and #3 but better than #2 LOL). As a bonus throughout the movie I was texting with my kids who were watching it at the same time in their homes – we saw the first three together when they were younger.
I watched Axel F as well. They sure have gotten old. Decent entertainment for 2 hours.
We also watched Axel F tonight. (My husband suggested it, and I was able to say I’d read comments here.) We don’t think we saw #2 and #3. But #4 was entertaining. Lots of fun music. And the violent scenes were not a gorey as some other things we’ve watched.
We watched Axel F too on Wednesday night. I agree that it entertained us for a couple of hours even if it was not the best movie.
We saw A Quiet Place Day One - I loved it. If you are a cat lover you’ll enjoy Frodo’s acting chops. This film is more about human connections than the origin of aliens, which I preferred.
Black Barbie was an enlightening documentary - Netflix
We watched Axel F last night. I really enjoyed it. Fun movie for two hours.
Another fun, action movie is The Fall Guy. There is a scene after the end credits for fans of the TV series.
I’m turning Oppenheimer into a streaming limited series by watching over 3 nights. I never would have enjoyed it as much watching in one sitting.
Smart plan. It is a loooonngg movie. We watched it in one sitting… but it was on a large screen in a bougie movie theater with a bottle of wine.
We did Oppenheimer over 2 nights. Which is a bit funny because we sometimes do 2 episodes of a streaming show (especially the 2-part Silent Witness stories) in a single night. It’s just a long an intense movie. It was nice to have flexibility to watch as desired at home (though hubby also had seen it at the theater with our daughter).
Watched Axel F last night- I lost interest about halfway through. H continued watching, he thought it was just OK. Glad we didn’t pay to see it on the big screen.
