If you love him so much, watch The Return. You can see him fully naked!!!
Just watch ‘Mountainhead’ on HBO - four tech titans on an isolated weekend getaway. Sooo thought provoking. Incredible setting. From the show runner of Succession (Jesse Armstrong). Highly recommend!
Agree! So much fun! Best to see Mission Impossible in the theaters this weekend before it goes to streaming.
I watched Schindler’s List twice in the last two months. Once before we went to Poland and then again with my son and DIL in Warsaw. They had never seen the movie and we had just visited Schindler’s Factory. What a masterful performance by Fiennes! He was pretty young when he got that role. He gained 30 pounds to prepare for it.
“Good Night and Good Luck,” the Broadway play starring George Clooney, will be on CNN and Max tonight at 7 EDT.
We rewatched Secretariat last night. What a gem. I could watch that every week. Still might prefer Miracle, but it is still high up on my all time favs
And he wins every time!
(just like Miracle, Hoosiers, the Red Sox in the 2004 documentary).
Here’s the link for those that are interested (I’m planning on watching, too)
The Tony Award-nominated play “Good Night, and Good Luck” will air live on CNN and CNN International and stream live without requiring a cable login, and on connected TVs and mobile apps beginning at 7 p.m. ET.
It will also stream live on Max across all subscription plans.
(You can also watch via laptop, tablets at the link above as well.)
And in a complete opposite genre from Secretariat, we watched Ballerina, from the John Wick world this afternoon. If you like John Wick, you’ll probably like this one. I liked it quite a lot, and for reference I like John Wick, but am not a cult fan like H.
Of course, if you take out the fight scenes, the movie would have lasted 20 minutes instead of 2 hours.
We are watching The Thomas Crowne Affair with Rene Russo and Pierce Brosnan again, and it never gets old. The chemistry between the two is amazing and the script is terrific. I tried watching the original with Steve McQueen and couldn’t get past the first 20 minutes.
Wow. DH and I just watched “Titan,” the new Netflix documentary on the OceanGate submersible disaster. I was expecting a dry, scientific story, but nope. I think everyone should watch this movie. Every engineer and engineering student should. The hubris and arrogance of the CEO, Stockton Rush, is almost unbelievable. That tragedy should not have occurred. Period. SO MANY employees told him the thing wasn’t safe. The one engineer who blew the whistle on him was sued by OceanGate. He spent his savings trying to fight back but finally ran out of money and “fight” (his words). He was in tears talking about having to give up.
The movie really shook us up.
Thanks for sharing! On a must see list for us. OceanGate was a local to us company, so the whole disaster hit close to home so to speak.
We saw this this week too. It is just unbelievable - the negligence! The arrogance.
Apparently there is a different one on max. We want to see that one next
Is it 2027 yet? Flow seems to have inspired more movies about black cats!
2027 can’t get here soon enough. This is what I am excited to see:
Mel Brooks is a national treasure!
We watched Implosion: The Titanic Sub Disaster on Max after having watched the Netflix one last week. I personally preferred the Netflix one, though I think more people prefer the Max one.
The Netflix version starts at the beginning of the company and walks you through the design/testing process all of the way up to the disaster. It goes into a lot of detail about all of the people who walked off the job - especially when told they would be the next sub pilot! - because of design/safety issues. Stockton Rush is only talked about in negative terms.
The Max version is more about the disaster itself and the ongoing investigation. The wife/mom of the deceased paying riders is interviewed extensively. A couple of “friends”/business associates of Stockton were also interviewed extensively. I wouldn’t say they made him sound good, but they didn’t make him out to be quite as evil as in the Netflix version. They said he was under a lot of pressure to perform financially and he had the explorer mindset. (blah blah blah) A lot of the videos in this version were the same as in the Netflix version. I thought the banging sounds of the carbon fibers breaking sounded a lot scarier in the Netflix version. Edit - they also have a video of Stockton’s wife manning the radio when they heard the bang that was probably the sub imploding. That was sobering.
Both are definitely worth watching.
Thanks for the review! I will have to watch the Max version.
OMG, the video of his wife hearing that sound was in the news recently and indeed was really chilling. Thanks for the review! Will have to watch both.
I watched the Netflix version right after y’all recommended it. I had to stop it and discuss with dh multiple times.
We turned on the live action Snow White because how could it really be as horrible as the ratings say? Well, it really is unwatchable. And this may be an unpopular opinion, but Gal Gadot is an atrocious actress. The only thing worse than her acting was her singing. I googled it and there are articles written about how terrible her performance is in this film. We lasted about 35 minutes.
