I’m thinking about doing this. Is it worth it? I want to be a doctor and i’m NOT looking to go to ivy leagues. Do doctors have to take a psych class in college that this ap credit would save me money on? Major is prolly biology. Any thoughts? also, how easy is it/is it fun?

I’m talking only 2 ap classes next year (bio, gov) so I will have time for psych.

I have no intention on every taking a psychology class, but I self-studied it and the information really helps. it is really interesting how you can describe a lot of the phenomenon around you.

^O all right nice. Did you get a 5? And did you find self studying it manageable? also, what did you use?

I don’t know if you’d have to take Psych for your major.

Psychology is an easy self-study though, I can tell you that. I took 4 APs at school, plus AP Psych self-study, in which I got a 5 this year. I used 5 Steps to a 5 prep book, Barron’s flashcards, and a textbook that I got from a teacher at school.

There are several threads already on CC about self-studying AP Psych; look around for more info/opinions.

I’m awaiting my scores in the mail, but I’m fairly confident that I did well on the test. I initially took the practice tests that CB gives out and was only scoring low 80s on them, but I found the 2010-2011 test to be marginally “easier” than the practice tests I took.

My preparation included:
Barrons Psychology Prep Books x2-3
Barrons Flashcards.
Learning the names of famous psychologists and the experiments/findings associated with them.

Chacha.

I didn’t self study, but with the teacher I had I essentially did. I got a 5 just reading review books.

I don’t see the point in self studying it if I don’t have to take it in college though. So that’s why I’m hesitant about self studying any AP because I’m not sure which ones I have to take in college.

I self-studied it this year and got a 4. I feel like had I studied longer than 1.5 days, maybe more like a week before the exam, I could’ve EASILY gotten a 5.

Just do it.

^Aight thanks bro I’m goin for it.

Does it matter if u take it junior or senior

No it doesn’t really matter, except that if you take it as a senior, you won’t have your AP score when you apply to college. If you take it as a junior, you’d already be able to say “hey I got a 4/5 on it!” or whatever

^Yeah, that’s true. If anyone wants to self study with me we can have like an online study group. :)

That’s it, I only have once chance, I’m doing it!!!

I’m thinking of self studying it. Would Barron’s be enough?

I’d like to join the study group :)

^I’m not even sure yet but were glad to have you.

An online study group would be a waste of time.

Read Barrons twice.

Go through Barron’s flashcards twice.

Take practice tests.

Look over FRQs.

5.

@honorlions same here lol literally started 2 days before!

Seriously, I suggest u just DO IT!! It’s not hard and it is kinda interesting!! Get the barrons preb book (5 steps to a 5 is also pretty good but that shud only be used to supplement barrons) an ur good!! I wud suggest to start reading a little bit in advance (rather than 2 days before) so ur not stressed last bcz of last minute cramming!! But dw, it’s completely doable!! Good luck!

Wait so u guys r saying barrons plus pr is an easy 5?

Hey, hopefully this doesn’t sound ignorant, but can you self study as a sophomore and take the test?
