Self studying & a few freshmen grade questions?

Hello!
I first wanted to know how hard it is to self study for the AP chemistry if I am taking an advanced Chem. Class in school? My high school doesn’t offer it as an AP but I am interested in the possible credit.

Secondly, most likely, the only year average I’ll have my freshmen year will be in an art class. I try my hardest and still can’t get an a. I have tried talking to her and she tells me I am doing great, even though my grades don’t reflect it. How much of a problem will this be? I could have gotten close to a 4.0 but because of it I’m gonna only have 3.8 something according to my estimations. Will colleges take note that it was in art and not a real core class?

Thanks!

If you’re taking an advanced chem class you should have no problem self-studying. You’ll probably just have to supplement a couple things.

Success isn’t necessarily reflected in grades.
