People who take and post 15 millions selfies a day need to understand that no one, not ever their mother or lover, wants to see their face that much.

I am friends on FB with one of my 25 yr old D’s friends (she friended me). She CONSTANTLY posts selfies. She looks like she’s trying SO hard- I feel so embarrassed for her!!! She posted me tonight - and they are always SO close up !!! Another mom I know posts selfies several times a week showing herself at random places having “the time of her life” with her kids. It’s fine every once in awhile, but they are so cant it feels like self-bragging ( but to me, self-GAGGING!!!). :)

I don’t think it really counts if it is taken by someone else or if there is someone else in the picture.

The worst one I saw was a 50 year old woman took a picture of herself showing off her 6 packs (stomach, not beer). It was very admirable, but I really didn’t need to see her stomach, especially now it is her profile picture.

@oldfort Of course not. Then it’s not a selfie!

A fitting occurrence happened one day when me and my friends were hanging about campus. We were taking these obviously obnoxious selfies. A guy comes up to me and asks if he needed me to take the picture. I said, “No, then I won’t be able to write #selfie.”

Now, now. My current profile FB picture is a ‘selfie’ taken on a college road trip this summer of S3 & I. He was sitting in those wonderful adarondaik chairs at Lehigh in the late afternoon sun and there literally was no one around to take a picture of the two of us. I got behind him, handed him my dslr (because at 6"1’ his arms reach further), and smiled. He must have hit the shutter a dozen times and changed his expression each time. I didn’t get the memo. He doesn’t use FB much and is a pretty laid back kid so I had fun posting one with a huge silly grin on his face.

That’s my experience with selfies, I make no apologies. It’s one of my favorite pictures and will always remind me of that trip far more then S3 posed in front of various landmarks.

Hilarious stuff! I’d never have seen any of these if not for you, somemom…thanks!

blueiguana, love your story…very cute…and far from annoying. (-:

Kinda OT but amusing – my D didn’t know what a photo bomb was so when someone yelled “photo bomb!” she stood in the background pretending to be throwing a bomb. Pic is awkward and hilarious.
