Semester school?

What do you guys think of semester schools like the Mountain School and SEGL for junior year and how it would effect the college process?

from someone who knows…the academics do not map well- the teacher instruction is spotty at best- the residential situation is less than ideal …ans if you are a science or math person, forget SEGL altogether …stay with your curriculum, excel at your home base with good teachers and to supplement academics get involved in the community, join your clubs…if you are a history/poli sci person…and you want to work in washington and are a liberal , then SEGL might be for you. the people running it are young and inexperienced…and there shoudl never be any reason for any “teacher” to state their sexuality to a student under any circumstance…and they did. what a disappointment…not recommended

Cottoncandy, I think Brussels94 is a troll. Most of the teachers at SEGL are Ivy League graduates with impressive credentials, including the math and science teachers, who get consistently high marks from students. SEGL is explicitly nonpartisan and welcomes students and speakers from all political backgrounds (conservative speakers have included former NRA President David Keane, former Chief of Staff to President Bush Josh Bolton, Trump’s DNI nominee John Kelly, Senator Tom Coburn from Oklahoma, and many others. The last comment from Brussels94 is odd: does she want teachers to hide their sexual orientation? I would seek out actual graduates and arrange a campus visit if you are interested. SEGL’s top college destinations are Brown, Duke, GW, Georgetown, Harvard, NYU, Tufts, Wesleyan, and Yale. The Mountain School is also a wonderful place. Google Semester School Network for more!
