Would really appreciate input of which one of these colleges (I love all of them) I should use my ED on based on stats. I really want to apply ED.
GPA: 3.98 UW
ACT: 33, 34 Superscore (2 tests), National Merit Semi (based on score), no SAT IIs and no plans to take them
APs: 13 by end of HS, 4s and 5s on all tests so far
ECs: Intel ISEF/Research is the most impressive, other than that average above average ECs
I go to a large public high school in a fly over state that sends about 1-2 kids per year to an ivy type school. I am a white girl.
Essays: I love writing, and I’m really happy with them so far.
Also: Major undecided, I like biological sciences and social sciences.
I’ve heard great things about Carleton. Very expensive, kids are very studious. But very smart kids, and good education
I think out of that group of schools (ED not included) that is your best chance
Honestly, the ACT score is pretty solid, along with that GPA, literally almost perfect there. I’d say that really it depends on how you make yourself look in the essay and any other options that they give you to show your personality, assuming that the school is super competitive. If it’s not completely insane, you’d have a pretty good shot! Put that love of writing to good use!
On the note of which college to ED, I’d say go with whatever college you’re most comfortable with, because whether or not you like the college is subjective, and all yours to decide. Sorry about that, but I’m not going to put my opinion in on that one. I really only know Pomona because I’ve got a cousin there that likes it, but claims it to be a bit boring outside compared to what he’s used to (he’s a gamer).
Another quick side note: What is the process you had to go through to score that Intel ISEF thing?
I’m biased but I think there are few places better to do your undergrad than at Rice. It has an incredibly intelligent student body, the awesome student-ran residential college system, a beautiful secluded campus that also has the convenience of being in the middle of a major city.
I lose track of how many times Rice University has won best quality of life in the past decade, at least four times.
