well damn that was a tricky question… i missed it ! so how much is -2 from reading?

the Mikey passage:
The thing that they didn’t have in common or w/e that question was that Mikey “wasn’t interested in neighborhood gossip”.

ranges
in april it was a 34, july a 35?
probably will be -1 = 35, -2 = 34 and so on

For the question about Mikey interupting…

I’m pretty sure the answer was he did not receive a verbal scolding from the narrator. The narrator grasped his hand firmly and led him out, never scolded him for his actions. Ony “sshhed” him to be quiet so he could listen. He did get cookies to keep him quiet.

@Soccer:

I was stuck between scolding and the cookie as well during the test, but cookie was the answer. His scolding consisted of “shhh” and “You BRAT!”

Also… he didn’t receive any cookies to keep him quiet (as the answer choice stated). Rather, he took the cookies for his own pleasure.

Well from reading what people put, it seems like I did pretty well on the reading (5 or so wrong at most). Now I just hope Science went okay.

What I remember about Luc was that people who used the piano as altars “irritated Luc” while he sees the piano as NOT ONLY furniture (he does accept it as furniture as one of the lines suggests). Also, in parentheses on the top right column for the passage, it mentions that Luc thinks transporting piano in ships is the worst thing to do.

Eritas… I really don’t think the quesiton had “except” in it for some reason Can’t be completely sure, obviously but… hmmmm

@soccercant50 and WantIvy

come to think of it, that question is actually very subjective. being a nerd, and cc member, I looked up “scolding” in M&W and it is “to find fault noisily or angrily” or “to censure severely or angrily.” We can debate all we want about whether “you brat!” was said in angry/severe tone. My logic was when a big sister “shhhs” a younger brother, that’s definitely not scolding but when she said “You BRAT” she said it in the half joking half annoyed way suitable for the situation. Also wasn’t the question not “what kept him quiet”; rather "what did he receive for his bad behavior or something…?

That question sucked.

The question was something like this

Mikey received all of the following for his actions except:

B. a scolding from the narrator

D. a plate full of cookies to keep him quiet

Those were the two debatable answer choices. A scolding could be interpretted as “you brat!” But, he didn’t RECEIVE the cookies to KEEP HIM QUIET, it said that he just took the cookies and ran.

I said D…

i said B. because the narrator just looked at Mikey and pulled him aside and thats not really scolding. He did receive the cookies though …

d*** act. we should all write to them about that stupid question.

the only reason i picked D was because “you brat” can be considered scolding. But also more because he didn’t “receive” the cookies to “keep him quiet” No one gave him the cookies for any reason at all, actually. It said he TOOK the cookies and ran. “receive” is different from “took”

I agree with WantIvy, and honestly that passage wasn’t my main concern >.>;; it was the highway one that really got me DD:

LOL @wantivy

let’s face it, this question was probably the most subjective in the entire reading section. however, i felt that even if it asked “Mikey received all of the following for his actions except:” … he would not have gotten the cookies he wanted had he not been dragged to the kitchen? The cookies were a product of his behavior, and they did keep him quiet though, didn’t they? Even if they weren’t given to him?

LOL i give up
33+ i’ll be happy

First off, Mikey stole the plate of cookies, no one gave them to him. Secondly, the author used the actual word “scolding” when he/she referred to Mikey getting pulled aside by the narrator.

Yeah, I’m 100% sure the answer was the cookies, because by POE, everything else was wrong.

Something i didnt understand is , how does a ship damage a piano

It doesn’t matter… it asked what Luc hated/despised if I can recall correctly, and that was what he said.
