This is the official discussion thread for University of the South (Sewanee) Class of 2029 Early & RD applicants. Ask your questions and connect with fellow applicants.
Does anyone know when Sewanee will release their EA decisions for fall 2025? Thanks!
Late January - yes that’s vague but it’s not late Jan yet.
I’d say if they don’t respond by the 31st, give a call. It’s not long from now.
Good luck.
They’re out!
Yes! Out this evening!
D25 Accepted with nice merit scholarship.
My daughter also got in with merit. She loves the school and we are going to try and visit for the March admitted students day to see if it’s a good fit.
It would help future thread viewers if you can list the stats and merit amounts - so as they seek info about the school going forward, they have an idea of what to expect.
I can. EQB scholarship of 28K. S25 has a 4.0/4.29 GPA, 10 APs, good ecs, and was test optional.
Interestingly, his sister D23, received the same amount with a 3.6-3.7UW GPA. She visited though and showed more interest.
3.462 UW/4.154 W GPA; Top 31%; 1240 SAT; $16k merit
and
3.654 UW/4.738 W GPA; Top 10%; 1240 SAT; $20k merit
Merit amounts a good bit lower than what Furman offered.
Valedictorian, 4.0 UW/4.6 W, 34 ACT 34k merit.
Does anyone know how Sewanee scholarships work? I got max EQB (34k) with my acceptance, but I wanted to know if the higher awards (Wilkins, Benedict, Vice-Chancellor) are awarded upon initial acceptance or if accepted applicants are reviewed later for them. I’ve read a couple of threads talking about Sewanee interview weekends for scholarships, but I think they might have been dated. Would love to hear some insight
Curious about this as well!
Does anyone have any intel on this? My D25 has been accepted with a nice EQB scholarship, but we are wondering about the timing and process for these other scholarships.
Son accepted with 34k EQB, he has 4.2W, 33 ACT, 11 AP’s. We haven’t visited yet but probably will. Waiting on UGA😅
So, anyone going? If so what will you study?
My daughter is going elsewhere, but did like a lot about Sewanee when we visited for EQB Day. It just wasn’t a perfect fit, and another school was.
I’m mainly chiming in to provide an FYI that Sewanee offered an additional 5k per year in merit aid earlier today, completely unsolicited. My daughter’s original EQB scholarship was 33k per year, and this brings it up to 38k per year. So, if by chance, anyone is still considering Sewanee at this 11th hour (or as a data point for any class of 2030 folks that are reading this in the future) know that Sewanee, at least in this instance, is amenable to offering additional merit.
Good luck everyone.
