shape up hair cut

i’ve seen a lot of people with this hair style, but i’m not sure what its really called. kids in school just say that they got a “shape up”. im talking about the haircut in which the barber “shapes up” your forehead to make it look really nice and he makes your sideburns really thin. what is this called? i want to get it done, but i’m not sure what to tell the barber. please help asap.

get a pic online and show it to us/your barber. Try a google search of hairstyle websites.

Or just go with a mohawk… or if you are metro the fauxhawk??? ;)

BUMP. I dont have any pictures.

Like a militaryish haircut? The shaping of the forehead confuses me…cause I’ve only heard of them shaping the back of your head.

All a shape up is is when you get the edges done without actually getting your hair cut. There is no particular style. Just how you want ot done

no no its not really militaryish. it can be any kind of haircut, but when you ask for the shape up, the barber is supposed to shape up your hairline on your forehead or something like that. <a href=“Urban Dictionary: shape-up”>Urban Dictionary: shape-up;

what am i supposed to tell the barber when i ask for this?

Yes thats what I said.
We black people do it all the time. I see you had to get urban dictionary for that one

Erm…like I said before, I’ve only heard of getting shaped up on the back and sides.

so I should just go to a barber and say i want a shape up? do i HAVE to go to a barber or can I go to a salon? do i have to go to a black barber? sorry for the dumb questions, but i really want to get this done. thanks.

Why are you asking this here? Online? Your first posts?

Yeah just ask for a shape up. Mostly likely you’ll have to go to an urban (black) barber shope for them to know what you are talking about. I get shape ups because im letting my hair grow but dont want it to look unkept.

Why not? If you dont have an answer Thaitan, please don’t waste my time.

May I ask where your from and/or where you’re going to school?

qwerty07

uh dude

I can do that for you:)

Pity I cannot hook you up online with a proper shapeup

Totally go to an African American barber shop. No one will mind, the African American community is beautiful.

I would hate to see supercuts version of a shapeup!

k. im going to rutgers new brunswick in nj.

go to any barber shop here and you could get one. Only about 3 bucks sometimes 5

whhhhhat? Your going to Rutgers…i’m at livingston what college are yo ugoing to? *t’s a small world …Theres a place on George street in downtown new brunswick called Lexus. I go there while i’m at school. It’s a spanish place (they speak english as well). Ask any person of color you see where it is exactly I almost guaruntee they know where it is. If you want to know anything else let me know.

PM sent, I got you covered in New Brunswick

sorry i didn’t want ot make anew thread, but im currently trying to grow my hair out, kinda go for that owen wilson look. should i just not go to a haircutter for like the next 6 momnths or do i need to go see a hairstylist so that she can do something to make it like his style (if that’s even possible)?

ewww…the Owen Wilson “look”…are you going to break your own nose too?!

ewww…

Well if you want to grow your hair out, then you need to get it barely trimmed every month or so. Just go somewhere you trust and say you are growing it out. And say you want a tiny trim every month or so. Please condition well during this time.

I am sorry, I am a gal and just think that Owen Wilson is one of those dudes who look really nice from the neck down…if you know what I am saying.
