We are waiting on Purchase. Wondering if there is still a chance! Did you get an email or letter?

Email on Thursday. Fingers crossed for you!

I don’t think “normal” kids realize what a blessing it is to be able to attend the school you want with the major you want.
It’s so hard for me to get rejected so much, but it’s nice to come on here and see that I’m not alone.

breaks out into full choreographed performance of “We’re All In This Together”

My daughter got an email last Thrs.

Thanks! I have heard calls, emails, big envelops! I guess we just keep waiting… Congrats on wait list bc at least there is still a chance. Same for the other schools. Those are some really good ones!

That’s right nomester, you have had to jump through hoops, be totally prepared and focused, rehearse, rehearse, rehearse, travel all over and go to school and maintain your grades. You are to be commended and congratulated!! =D>

I am sitting here balling like a baby. I would NEVER make it in this industry. I’ve been catching up on all that has happened for folks since yesterday. It’s so hard to know how much work and heart goes into this process and then to hear about all the “no’s” kids are experiencing. And the way they get notified… and some of the intentional hype, that makes the rejection that much more painful…

Just know that I respect and admire all the work, dedication, passion, and commitment you kids have invested. I don’t care what school you end up going to, you are amazing people, and will create amazing futures for yourselves!

BU rejection here too.

I auditioned as an acting major and this weekend I was rejected from Northwestern, CCPA, UCLA and BU over the past two days. It’s been a tough weekend to say the least. Waiting on CMU, SUNY Purchase, USC, Syracuse and NYU. However, I didn’t receive an email/call from Purchase, so my rejection is probably in the mail. Whatever’s meant to happen will, I keep reminding myself this, but it doesn’t make the rejections any easier. So sorry to everyone whose going through what I am! I auditioned for 14 schools and am currently 0 for 9. Hoping to be admitted to Syracuse.

So sorry @Actordude34. Rough weekend. I hope that something wonderful happens soon for you.

Got my rejection from BU this morning only to open my DEPAUL acceptance this afternoon. Hope similarly weird and wonderful things will happen to you all too :x

I have just read through all of these posts… Congratulations on the good news and poop on the bad news

Unless you are following some kind of religious mandate, you don’t need to tell yourself “whatever is meant to happen will.” Sometimes you have bad luck; sometimes you have good luck. Sometimes you’re not prepared as well as others. Sometimes you’re on a roll.

Don’t beat yourself up with a fatalistic view. Talented, hard-working people can have rotten luck (or what appears to be rotten luck in the moment.) Your plan B might be the path to all kinds of unforeseen opportunities, but you should remain an active participant in determining your own fate.

Those who say, “people end up where they are supposed to” are generally the ones who ended up where they wanted to. But sound bites like this are cruel to those who are disappointed with their results. This is a time of raw feelings. And if it were true that everyone ended up in the right place, there would be no transfer students.

Thank you @glassharmonica. Well said.

I wrote a long post but it disappeared… Will try again later

This thread is really entertaining. The emotional roller coaster of it all is right out there, making For a riveting read. Couple of observations: love the part about no one in the regular college world understanding the awesomeness/fierce competition of being accepted at Places like Rutgers or SUNY purchase. That never stops, btw. Very few people have heard of my child’s school. But, I was in NYC last weekend and when I mentioned to some artsy types that he goes to NCSA, they actually knew it and Got it, So nice for a change :).

On the acceptances and rejections, my son was not accepted to a single school last year until March 29. It. Was. Horrible. Even then, he didn’t end up going to that school. So much can change with wait lists and acceptances! Still keeping fingers crossed for all!

Congrats on the acceptances, hugs to the NOs. Rejection from BU for my D, which was expected - she told Paolo, ehen he asked about her grades, “I have very good grades, but I have ADHD and have trouble focusing…” OY! Too much honesty! But D’s BFF got accepted to BU with nearly full ride, so we are thrilled for him. Still no news from Syracuse or Purchase…Muhlenberg was her “safe” school, but still nothing. Could mail take that long from the east coast?! Thought we would have news this weekend, but still no!

To those with “rejections”: you’re not rejected, you’re being re-directed to something better for you!! Hang in there and look forward to where the journey will take you. You may not end up where you thought you would, but I believe that some day you’ll look back and it will make more sense that it does right now.

@glassharmonica…wise words and so true

@sherryjane Congrats to your daughters friend…I know it must be so hard for her. We also have not heard from SUNY or Muhlenberg (although we did apply to Muhlenberg fairly late). Not happy at all with how SUNY handles the admissions process. Can’t understand why they can’t send an email like the other schools or update their portal with decisions. I know its a fantastic program but so many kids apply and are left hanging…I know what the answer will be but my S just wants to know. I prefer that schools have one ED and one regular date where they let everyone know at the same time. Seems less cruel. Just my two cents.

Thx @compadv! My D is genuinely happy for her BFF and I think having aUdition based acceptances to Fordham and Emerson are keeping her head up, but she REALLY wants a BFA so we are just waiting. I agree, the schools should have one date that they all send out notices! This process is extremely cruel IMO! And SUNY has definitely been the least organized. Hang in there everyone. We should ALL know by April 1, right? One more week of this…
