So thrilled to hear this happy ending @bisouu! ( And, I must admit, very envious that you are DONE!!) Have a wonderful vacation!!

Yay bisouu and D!! I love a happy ending, and a great beginning!!

Congratulations! Glad to hear that your D found the place for her. Good luck with the next chapter!

So happy for you Bisouu and D!

Congratulations @Bissou and D!

@dramamom0804 We live in the Chicago suburbs. Not sure how much time you have but St. Charles and Geneva are quaint little towns that aren’t too far from NIU. S has done a drama camp at NIU that was fantastic.

@mountainhiker…good luck on making a tough decision…congrats on having so many great choices

Fingers crossed for everyone still waiting on the last few…

Congratulations, bissou and D!

I have never posted on here before, but have read numerous posts for awhile, as I was looking for support somewhere with my D having gone through very similar audition/waiting/stress experiences!! Thank you to all for the very honest, open and helpful information!! So far she has been accepted at Pace, U of Arts, and Marymount Manhattan for BFA Acting; Chicago College of Performing Arts for MT; Emerson for their BA Theatre; waitlisted for U of MN, Ball State & DePaul, rejected at Rutgers. Still waiting to hear from Syracuse, NYU, CMU and Fordham! Although I’m late to the party, I look forward to sharing continuing stories and support/encouragement with all of you!

Wow kbsmom! You have some great choices! Good luck with the decisions. We are waiting on two but have a trip planned to Syracuse next Monday.

Welcome @kbsmom! It will be hard for your D to decide…so many great choices. She is lucky to be on some great waitlists but I know that makes it tougher and the process so much longer. Good luck to her!

@deamer…good luck on your trip to Syracuse on Monday…so exciting!

Thank you! Good luck to you!!

@deamer18…thanks very much! Best of luck to you also!

@josh703 I got my MBA at SMU…it is a beautiful campus and Dallas is a great town. I also lived in Cincinnati right out of college…another great town. Have a friend whose daughter was a dance major and absolutely loved it. You do have some great options…I hope the answer is clear after your visits. Have a great trip and enjoy the experience :)

@compadv…Appreciate your welcome! Yes, this is going to be tough. Unbelievable what these performing arts kids have to endure (and their parents) compared with “regular” college admissions!

Weigh in…SUNY Purchase or Syracuse for BFA Acting?

Anyone have experience with, or know about Chicago College of Performing Arts? Any info is appreciated!!

@deamer18 Syracuse. More performance opportunities, the campus doesn’t look like an insane asylum, great school in general, lots of recent alumni. I’m not hearing too many alumni coming out of Purchase these days…

So…is Emerson worth the price?

My D auditioned for and was accepted into the BA-Acting program, but we don’t qualify for financial aid and she didn’t get any merit aid. She is in love with the school and we will go back to Boston next week for their accepted student show. My husband is not convinced “it’s not even ranked” he says. She is a super creative kid (like all of yours, I assume!
actress, writer, comedian, director, etc. Born storyteller and learns better “doing.” I see all your posts and know that many of these schools are private and expensive and not everyone qualifies for lots of aid. Woke up at 4:00 this morning and laid in bed wondering about money and choices and how far away Boston is and rejoicing/ lamenting that I have 2 lovely daughters pursuing creative paths in this big, scary world. Anyone else laying awake some nights? :-)

Anyway, love the title of this thread so I am here to “share, vent and support!” Congratulations to all your extraordinary kids. So happy for everyone that we are getting close to some decisions!! If anyone knows an Emerson parent with whom I can speak, would love the referral.

@kbsmom, my S is a freshman at CCPA and very happy there. Also @austinmt’s D, tho she is in MT voice. Happy to answer questions or put you in touch with my son.

@deamer18. I went to Syracuse, although in the communications school. It is a great school, although Syracuse stage is a long walk down the hill from main campus. There are no dining facilities down at the stage. Be aware of that. Bound to get annoying when you have long days and rehearsals down at the stage.
I don’t think Purchase’s campus is ugly. It is self contained and everything is close to each other. It is a half hour train ride into New York City.
