Sheets update

MD Mom–and they sell it at Costco! I should probably cross-post this on the Costco thread in this forum, b/c I find myself buying things in Costco that I never knew I needed, and I am usually happy with the purchases.

I recently replaced the duvet cover for a twin bed and the new cover had ties attached at each of the corners on the closed end for tieing around the corners of the duvet so it doesn’t slip. I’ve been “retrofitting” all the covers since - I take about 8" of flat grosgrain ribbon, fold it in half and hand stitch it into each of the (inside)corners on the closed end of the cover. Wrestle the duvet inside and tie up each corner. You could put them on the button end, too, but it’s not so hard to reach in and straighten out that end.

My cotton sheets wrinkle like crazy. Any suggestions ? Not gonna iron!

jym–I have a friend who owns this contraption that she uses to iron at least the tops of sheets. I couldn’t believe when I saw her doing this at her summer house! (It looked like this: [Amazon.com: Reliable S550 Digital LED Steam Press: Home & Kitchen](http://www.amazon.com/Reliable-S550-Digital-Steam-Press/dp/B00303FXS8/ref=pd_sim_sbs_k_5))

Have not had wrinkled sheet issue myself. Do you remove them from the dryer as soon as it stops running? They go back on the bed immediately in my house, eliminating the need to ever fold a sheet.

They seem to wrinkle no matter when they are pulled from the dryer. :(

jym–hmm…beyond my limited domestic abilities then. A new brand? I trust that other helpful responses will soon follow.

Thumper1 - glad you love the Wamsuttas! They are my favorite. The name is Wamsutta Perfect Pinpoint, and yes, they are pricey and only sold a la carte. But if you have a BBB coupon (or a few actually) it’s bearable.

http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?SKU=114943

H and I decided to try something new from BBB after that last thread and ended up getting some “Perfect Percale” sheets. I like them (although not as well as the Wamsuttas), but geez Louise they’re wrinkly - and I usually don’t even care! I think they were $69.99 for a set, and I had a coupon…

My sheets are all 100% cotton. Yes sometimes they are wrinkled. They straighten out once they are on the bed and covered with a blanket.

We like to fold the topsheet over the blanket and it seems to stay wrinkled. Not a pretty look :(

“1214mom, I am a broken record. I say the same thing every time a sheet thread comes up. I love the Kirkland Sateen Sheets from Costco. They’re under $100, come with four pillowcases, and are a very smooth high-thread-count (600 maybe?) 100 percent cotton. They are not satiny! It’s just a very smooth cotton, both soft and crisp (if that makes any sense). And of course since they’re from Costco, you can try them and return them if you don’t like them or they don’t wear to your satisfaction.”

I agree completely with “zipyourlips”. I bought these sheets and they are very soft and comfortable. Four pillowcases was a great added bonus!

YES! to the costco sheets! I do not like sateen either. I was desperately searching for the cool, crisp sheet and willing to give the sheets that peacefulmom and zipyourlips describe. Great purchase.

Happy to hear you found a set that you like, thumper.

I am embracing finding happiness and showing gratitude today.

We have a regular full size bed. I don’t think those Costco sheets come in that size…at all.

HImom and thumper, you’re correct. My suggestion of the Costco sheets is irrelevant for those looking for full-size sheets, as Costco only carries Queen and King in the Kirkland sateen. Apologies for not mentioning that (I knew, since I had searched for a full set as well).

By the way, Costco sometimes carries other brands of sateen sheets. These are not equivalent to the Kirkland. I bought a Calvin Klein set at Costco for our guest room and they are not nearly as nice as the Kirkland.

Okay, I’m a little thick over here…sateen sheets from Costco that don’t look or feel sateen?

Do they have a sample of material to feel outside the package?? I happen to like crisp, but soft…that’s how you described these sheets! Wonder if I should give them a try? Also, hope they don’t wrinkle much…I’m like that other poster who basically keeps washing the same set of sheets and they just putting back on the bed…much easier for us, too, to do it that way…we have a King bed. We have several sets of sheets for the kids in the twin size…the current King size sheets we have do fit the bill as soft but crisp and hardly wrinkle at all. I got them from Macy’s a few years back on one of their million sales days and also purchased extra pillow cases. Love how comfortable and breathable they are and how they hold up with almost no wrinkling.

I always buy extra pillow cases but usually in a darker color that compliments the sheet set.

I will say…I DO have one issue with all new sheets. They are made for mattresses that are 12inches thick or more. We have a regular tempurpedic and it’s not very thick at all…it’s the thickness of an OLD mattress. So my nice comfy sheets are a bit big (please don’t suggest those jersey knot sheets…I can’t stand how those feel).

Thank you all so much!! I’m standing in Costco and looking at sheets from Kirkland and another brand. I couldn’t remember the suggestions so searched on ‘Costco sheets’ by post and easily found this. It easily steered my to the Kirkland ones although a bit more expensive. I don’t buy them often and didn’t want to be disappointed.

I love CC!! Y’all are the greatest. :)

BI: Let us know how you like them once they’re on your bed…we are now in need of a new set after 7-8 years and may try them out as long as they are really not sateen.

yes yes! I’ll try a set if they’re not slippery sateen!

I definitely will report back. I wish, like others, that they had full size sets available.

I am standing in front of the sheets as well, happen to run into this thread just waiting for a return phone call LOL. The charisma sheets are only 400 threadcount whereas the Kirkland are 540
