Should I attend nephew's birthday party?

Glad to hear that things went well.

Keep in mind that many single moms need their children to drive to help out.

And, if at a later date, an engagement is announced, remind yourself that humans are social people and we shouldn’t want anyone to remain alone…especially when we aren’t living alone.

:)

Don’t hope, make it happen!! I got the sense from your posts that you haven’t initiated the contact in the past. Hopefully, this can be a new beginning…I’m sure your brother would want you in his kids lives. Do it for him.

How wonderful! I’m so happy that you went and that it turned out so well.

Echoing geeps20, make the contact happen! Invite the relatives over when your son is home.

Yes, I’m with geeps too. My sister may not speak to my brother but she reached out to his girls and one of them is still close with her. It sounds like you worked up a scenario in your mind that did not actually exist. So keep the relationship going by realizing that connections go BOTH ways, that these are good kids doing good things and that they love you. You don’t need more than that as a motivator. I’m glad you went, and that it went well.

It sounds like it was a perfect time. Everyone talked, everyone connected, and everyone grew closer.

So, you attend if you want to and you do not attend if you do not want to. If you feel that party is going to be upsetting, is not it an indication that you will not enjoy it? Well, some people do enjoy to get upset, most do not like it though. We would not knoe your preferences. Most like to stay happy, others enjoy drama situation a lot.

So good to hear it went well!

Another chiming in to say glad it went well. Nice to have some positive family relations.

That is so wonderful to hear, I’m glad it went well for you.

What a wonderful outcome. Thank you for sharing that. And what a great testament to your brother and his widow that they have raised such accomplished, and more importantly, such nice kids!

That’s great!

It sounds like a wonderful family celebration…hopefully the first of many!

Very happy for all. Sometimes the anticipation and the actuality are blissfully disconnected!
