Should I do ED...

so… I got into Indiana U- Kelley Direct with $9000 scholarship/ yr with invitation to the honors program.

I really want to pursue business, however my stats are too low for NYU Stern so I am doing ED to NYU CAS.

What do you guys think I should do? goto IU for Honors program or goto NYU CAS Economics?

Be aware that NYU has one of the worst finaid of universities nationwide. If money isnt an issue and you feel you can compete in the ED Stern pool, then go for it.

yea money is the main problem i would have to say. However, if money is not the big thing, apply ED to NYU because it may be worth it depending on ur situation.

personally, i would stay away from ED unless you were completely loaded and new without a shadow of a doubt that that was where you wanted to go. They say that you can back out of an ED agreement if you sight financial reasons, but i’ve heard that it can be hard to convince them that you don’t have the money. Very few applicants are released from ED agreements.

I’m not really worried about the money since i won’t be applying for financial aid anyways.

the main point of the post was if people thought Kelley Business school is better than just dong Economics in NYU’s College of Arts and sciences

If you have to ask “should I do ED?” chances are, you shouldn’t.
But that aside, if you’re deciding SOLELY on which school has the better business program, not location, money, people, size, etc… I guess NYU would be the smarter choice.
But may I suggest applying to Stern ED instead of CAS? The number of ED applicants is going to sharply decline due to the current state of the economy, so you may have a better shot than you think. And if you don’t make it, you have the Honors Program.

If you are thinking about going into business, I think you should do a little calculation of how much money you are going to save going to Indiana. Then do a calculation of what could be done with that money, what kind of further educational opportunities it can buy, what it could turn into if invested in starting a new business, etc.

You can also do NYU for grad school and be in a better place to decide.
