I will be a senior this fall, and these are my projected classes
AP Econ
AP Gov & Comp
AP Com. Sci
AP Lit
AP Calc BC
Orchestra
I became interested in becoming a doctor just a couple months ago (thought I was gonna go engineering). I thought about the anatomy and med science courses, but I opted against them because I didn’t think I would benefit as much because those classes aren’t very serious (filled with slackers as many take them just to get science credits). So I picked medically unrelated classes such as gov and com sci because I could learn some skills such as programming and how our econ and gov work.
I have taken related classes, such as AP biogy, AP Physics, and chem. And even child psych.
Personally, I would change AP Econ to an AP Science-specifcially AP Chem or AP Bio. Colleges aren’t really going to want to know or care if you didn’t like a teacher or the type of kids who take the class. Do you like to challenge yourself? if I were you I would do this:
AP Econ - change to AP Chem (if you haven’t taken it)
AP Gov & Comp - good, earns you a history credit.
AP Com. Sci - if you think it will benefit you take it. Possibly change to a DE class from your local CC. Anatomy & Physiology would be good.
AP Lit - good.
AP Calc BC - very good!
Orchestra - keep it. You need a fun class!
Bottom line, if you’re interested in medicine/science and want to become a doctor, then show your interest. To me your schedule as is does not read as someone who wants to major in a science field.
@southernbelle16 Thanks for answering. I can only take 6 classes though (I am becoming more and more against com sci, should I drop that then?)
If you feel like you are against it, then I would drop it.
