My highly competitive high school responded to COVID19 by changing this semester’s grades to Pass/Fail, which will show up on your transcript but will not affect GPA. In addition, they will allow you to attach an additional section onto your transcript which shows your letter grades for this semester until mid-March (school closure).
Until now, I have had straight A’s, and I plan on applying to multiple t20 colleges this fall. The issue is that I had 2 B’s at the time of school closure (Calc BC and English), and an A- in Chemistry Honors, and the other 3 classes are A’s. These would not count towards my GPA whether or not I added them to my transcript.
Should I add these grades to my transcript? Most of my friends are submitting it because my school is extremely competitive. For context, I have taken 12 APs throughout high school (4.0 UW, 4.4+ W, 36 ACT), and have a few international-level awards and solid ECs, and am applying for CS.
If it counts for anything, I took the Calc BC test and am confident I got a 5 (this was one of the classes I got a B in)
Tldr:
Option 1: Have only Pass grades for this semester and all courses for other semesters are A’s, while most everyone else from my HS submits letter grades as well
Option 2: Have Pass grades & 2 B’s & 1 A- & 3 A’s for this semester while all courses for other semesters are A’s
