Should I switch back to Computer Science?

I started an AS in Computer Science in Fall 2022 at Dallas College under the Dallas Promise scholarship. I got English, Government, Arts/Humanities, College Algebra, and Trigonometry out of the way.

However, sometime in the Spring 2023 semester, I had a breakdown because I thought that I wouldn’t be able to handle all of the upper-level math/programming/physics courses (Calc 1/2, Discrete Math, Programming Fundamentals, etc) and that they would mess up my GPA if I didn’t do well in them and I would lose my scholarship.

I switched my degree over to Cybersecurity and I like the coursework, but I can’t help but think that I messed up. I had the chance to complete my major CS coursework for free, but instead, I’m using the money on a degree in security when I could’ve just studied CS and saved money at UTD.

I plan to go to university and take another shot at CS, but it’ll probably take me a while to complete because I decided to switch.

Will UTD still accept my application? Should I try to give CS a shot again?

Did you have a mentor? Are you talking about this program?FAQs - Dallas County Promise

Yes, I’m talking about that program.

Have you spoken to Comet Counselor at UTD?

No, I haven’t spoken to a Comet Counselor yet. Are there scholarships attached to being apart of the Comet Connection program?
