I am currently in the 10th grade and I’m debating on whether or not I should I take 4/5 AP classes next year and right now I’m only taking 2 (also my first 2 ever). Sign ups for next year’s courses are in early February so I need to make a decision soon.
My current schedule is:
AP Human Geography-96% (very curved)
AP World History-101% (slightly curved)
Accelerated Geometry/Algebra II-98%
Honors Physical Science-100%
Honors 10th Literature-99%
Intro to Business and Tech-96%
Marketing and Entrepreneurship-94%
French II-96%
My schedule for Junior year?:
AP Physics 1
AP Chemistry
AP U.S. History
AP Language and Composition
Marketing 3 OR AP European History
Accelerated Pre-Calculus
Business and Digital Technology
French III
My time management this year also isn’t the best. I fall behind on my reading in World from procrastination. Is this fixable. My major concern is that I won’t have enough time after school to complete my homework even without procrastinating.
Even if you did have strong time management, I would no recommend taking APUSH and APEH concurrently. While the workload will depend on the teacher, in general, both courses require a tremendous amount of reading and it is liely that you will have major written projects in each due the same time.
I think it’s doable. I’m a Junior this year and take 4 AP classes as well. APUSH from my experience is not that hard as long as you read and learn the material. AP Lang is also pretty easy. However, physics and chemistry are known to be hard so I don’t know about doing them at the same time. Physics at my school is pretty challenging and many people have B’s. Chemistry requires a lot of memorization of formulas and compounds. However, if you stick with doing your work then I think you should do it.
What kind of science did you have previously? Seeing Honors Physical Science for a sophomore is odd. Maybe it is just the way your school names classes.
In my 9th grade year, I took Honors Biology and made a 100 in the class and a 98 on the state exam.
My school doesn’t allow students to take AP Bio until 12th grade but require a bio class for 9th grade. Physical science is also required in the 10th grade and 11th grade is usually chemistry and 12th grade is usually Bio/Physics/Environmental…
If you think APHG is going to be anything like AP Euro, I’ve got bad news for you. Not only does AP Euro take up a ton of time, it requires a lot of memorizing and writing skills- especially for LEQs and DBQs. Taking APUSH (another heavy workload class) along with Euro is a death wish. But if you personally believe that you can put in the effort, then by all means go for it!
I would only take one AP Science. They are often two periods because of labs and will be too much.
Also do not take APUSH and AP EH at the same time.
Have you taken Chem before? If not, take Honors Chemistry. Take Physics next year.
